    Westinghouse SK-32H240S

While I wait on a part to arrive for my LG project, I decided to return to an older project which has made me go bananas .

TV is Westinghouse SK-32H240S. I got it from a friend who didn't feel like messing with it. Has no remote (this might become important as you read more). Measured the voltages and all seem quite normal. Where I stand now is trying to figure out what is wrong, so here are the symptoms.

-TV will power up to an all black screen.
-After ~5sec at this black screen, it goes to a dimmer screen with very faint rainbow vertical lines
-After ~15sec at the dim black/rainbow line screen it goes into standby with orange indicator light which was blue the whole time before.

I'm not sure if the side input selection button works as I cannot seem to get sound on any of the inputs. My LG project (here) makes me think the issue is again the T-CON board. They're quite cheap for this set, so maybe I could try it?

Also browsed the forum for other SK-32H240S issues and found one thread which seemed to be an inverter issue/2 seconds to black, but I have backlight the whole time and don't think this is the issue.

Could it be the power supply/inverter board? Any input would be a great help.

    Re: Westinghouse SK-32H240S

Check for good supply voltages on the power supply. It does sound a lot like a T-con fault. I had a TV which confused me with the INPUT button; pressing it didn't change the input but brought up a dialog box allowing the input to be chosen...

Just realized I had a westinghouse remote - used it to switch to PC input. The audio DOES work just fine, however no video, just the vertical lines of multiple colors. Not as thick as the ones in my LG thread.

      T-con or LVDS cable?

After a little more tinkering, all voltages still work out just as expected.

Swapped out LVDS cable with one from a box of old parts (same printing on cable so I know its correct) - still have the same problems. I'll not go for a T-con swap.

        T-con board is : M$35-D010611-L$HPR705300KIE V320B1-C03
        ---but---
        Panel is marked : M$46-D014124-L$W2101100576W1131 V320B1-L07 Rev:C1

Should I match to panel markings or the T-con that was installed?

Figured out which T-con I needed, it came in today and I swapped the boards out. Same issue as before. Failed panel or bad part? Both of my LVDS cables are producing the bad display (many vertical colored lines with black background). I measured all power voltages again and they're 12v or 5v on the pins that correspond the the markings on the board, still nothing crazy here. While I think this suggests it isn't a power issue, I hear a very distinct and higher pitched humming from the board. Maybe there is a region of higher resistance somewhere and the PSB/Inverter combo board isn't functioning correctly despite correct voltages at the main?

Try unplugging some of the flat flex cables from the T-con to see if you can get a partial picture. It's possible there's a short circuit on the board somewhere.

Indeed if I unplug one of the two cables I get a half screen of lines. If I wiggle the LVDS cable when the lines are up, they change appearance (location and colors are different).

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
                by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
                by smic717394
                Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

                Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
                by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

Vizio TV M50-C1 reboot cycle and static on screen
                by spice_disc
I'm currently trying to diagnose and fix my Vizio TV (Model M50-C1). I've tried a number of different basic solutions, but I'm trying to determine if my issue is currently a failing panel, T-Con board, or main board (or something else entirely) and whether or not it is worth my time to fix it. Details of the issue and what I've tried are below as well as why I think it is either a bad panel, T-Con board, or main board.

The Issue: The TV will be on and working fine but after the TV is on for ~5-10 minutes the screen will freeze (with sound continuing) until the TV reboots itself. While...
