Re: Vizio XVT3D424SV Spent Too Much Need Help

I had a Vizio M420SV come into my shop that had the amber vizio logo and would turn white at startup. Then the usual Vizio logo would come up and then the tv would shut down. All voltages were good, backlights came on, and my fear was a bad eeprom. I couldn't find a eeprom and a new main board was $239 at searspartsdirelects.com after a frantic search. I noticed the remote didn't work and after working on Vizio's I also suspected the IR sensor. I changed that and BOOM it also fixed the shutdown problem. So if you think it's a eeprom, firmware, or bad main and all voltages look good change that IR sensor. It must have circuitry on that IR sensor that affects startup if it goes bad. Never a dull day with a Vizio repair.
