    Samsung LE-46M86BD Picture Issues

    Hi,

Just picked up this this TV.

The reported issues were lines down the left hand side of the screen and no sound.

I have plugged it in and can see the lines down the left hand side of the screen. As you can see in the picture though the whole screen seems to be ghosting and suffering from interference.

It also looks like when you push on the screen some of the interference goes but the lines and the ghosting remains.

I am going to have the back off shortly to try and reseat the cables and see if that has any effect.

    Re: Samsung LE-46M86BD Picture Issues

Looks a lot like a T-con problem. The ghosting is probably caused by insufficient OFF voltage, which is used to turn off the pixels in the LCD. Budm might be able to help here.

To eliminate the main board and cabling (to T-con), you can try the trick of changing the LVDS format.

momaka discusses t-con troubleshooting for a LCD monitor (post #13 - different problem), but the principle should be the same for a LCD TV.

Yeah I looked in the menu but couldn't find the LVDS option I will get back into the menu and see if I can find it. I have found out why there is not sound.... Someone has removed the speakers! There were also some wedges in the top of the screen so someone has tried to remove the ghosting with them.

Looks like I have a right dog here.

If I can get the picture sorted then I will definitely be interested. just going to clean the ribbons and then try again. IF not then I will get back into the service menu. Hopefully all before tea arrives

Jeez no one mentioned this yet????

46 and 52" samsungs and sonys > from 2008-2010 , samsung brand panels

These all get tab bonding issues where you get a darker picture and ghosting. usually its the top left tab and pressing on it, or twisting the whole tv will fix the picture. The wedges were probably an attempt to fix tab bonding issues, but they could have put too much pressure and missaligned the tab at the top > causing your lines.

                This is generally not fixable.

I thought it might have had something to do with the tab bondings.

twisting makes it better but does not cure it. I assume they have damaged it. Oh well I am sure I can get something back for the T-com, main board, power supply and inverter boards.

If possible can you save the diffuser sheets from the LCD panel in case someone, or myself, needs them to repair mura?

                      yeah can do.

Im gutted that I managed to get rid of the black lines by playing with the tab bond but then when I put it all back together it resulted in a solid thick black line.

You can probably roll them up and store them in a cardboard tube. How many were there? There is usually a light guide plate (thick 2mm-3mm plastic), a prism film or two (very effectively amplifies light), and a few diffuser sheets. Cheaper LCDs omit a few diffuser sheets and the prism film. You can probably get rid of the light guide plate. It's a nice lens though.

This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                                Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

                                Hello all,

This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side.
