The AC detect pin being 2.690vdc does that seem to high??
Im thinking maybe this receiver box needs resetting somehow..how easy is it to do & what would i need..thx
Its got 1 of those trap switches..maybe i will give him it bk..thx

No idea, just check the AC detect. The key to troubleshooting is to check one thing after another (eliminating possibilities) until you find the fault, not to try random things! The message, after all, is MR-AC, which seems to me to indicate a fault with the power supply.

The AC detect on the tv?..if so is it taking a vdc reading from any of the pin outs with AC on the tv psu..thx tom

On the media box. Use DC volts. Measure with power plugged in.

Try plugging in the DVI output to another monitor, too.

Downloaded schematics for media box & them readings seem to be correct?

After reading quite a few findings about solid green & red lights on this receiver box its pointing towards the trap mode..i dont think my friend has had this opened before as it was heavily coated in dust..is there any other way of getting the tv to turn on without this box?..thx

Have you read the service manual?

Do the voltages roughly correspond to pin outs?

Never serviced one before... wouldn't have a clue.

Was at Robot Club - sorry I couldn't post.

Yep them readings roughly match pin outs on service manual

Good. Now what does it say about AC detect? Does it seem right?

(I'm trying to get you to do this yourself, so you learn a bit about the process.)

Without the ac detect & the standby voltages the other voltages needed wouldnt be present..so because all the voltages are correct on the main pin out im presuming the psu is in working order & the fault maybe lies elswhere in the mr box..am i correct in assuming this?..thx

Not necessarily... There are three signals there and at least two are important. One is PD Trigger, the other is AC Detect. PD Trigger makes me thing of a signal that fires when the power supply is about to power down. (Does the box have a HDD or flash memory?) AC Detect performs a similar function.

I would wait for the DVI cable and then if you get a good display I think you can rule out the media box.
