I am up for some component level stuff if I knew what it was that was causing the problem. I think trying to get hold of another board is probably the easiest thing to do.

I did have a second similar board which I took the eeprom off as a bit of a practice but I don't want to take the other one apart without being confident that its going to do something.

I will keep looking for a new board

I've uploaded the service manual to Mediafire, here's the link.

Sounds like replacing the main board is going to be the only way to fix it. That now says to me that the eeprom is unlikely to be the problem and you can't be sure you haven't corrupted it trying to reset it, if you do indeed have the right chip and pins connected. I don't have the relevant skill set (yet!) to walk you through fault finding the mainboard to see what else could be stopping it powering up. Maybe Budm or someone else who was guiding you through this earlier can help. That's if your up for some component level repair that is.

Nope. I am definitely getting power to the mainboard though.

So your not hearing any clicks from the power supply?

No clicks really. Just tried it again a few times.

How many clicks are you hearing? Are you hearing a faint click then a louder one?

For arguments sake let's say the 100 ohm smd resistor by the eeprom applies to your model and you are connected to the correct data pins. That said, try disconnecting the wires right on/after the first click you hear. Then follow the rest of the procedure laid out in post 77 by Scenic.

The standby light is doing all the right things like flashing 4 times when turning on then solid red when turned off.

    Its very strange!

I have had the service manual for some time now. My nephew had a similar model. His is either a LE40A556 or an LE40A559 I cant remember which, but all his required was replacing a few caps on the power supply. What is annoying is that it was repaired not a year previous by a 'reputable' repair company and you could clearly see the sub par soldering work where they had replaced 2 caps with some 'craps' (I can't remember the brand) they looked like they had been pulled from an old PC motherboard. The fee for their work? If I recall correctly it was around £120 for 2 caps + labour!!

I will see if I can find you a link to the service manual.

For me if the T.V is stuck in standby and clicking and your power supply is good. Given the info on a very closely related model that was released the same year (the LE40A557). My first stop after testing the power would be the eeprom considering it is the Achilles heel if you like, too far to many Samsung LCD and Plasma T.Vs.

I am not sure about the service port. Would need to hope someone else has experience with that, I haven't tried. I would guess it would work if you had a copy of the firmware.

Sadly (to some...) no, I find it all intriguing and informative, I am a masochist, once I get going the frustration is part of the pleasure, lol.

How did you find the service manual I have spent a while looking for it with no success.

So if the remote seems to be working the TV are we thinking that the software is corrupt stopping it from loading up?

This is why there is no sound and no picture because its not loading up properly?

What about programming the TV using the service port? or would that also fail if the tv wont load up?

Do you have a link for the service manual?

Sorry that this tv has now become frustrating for you also

The difficulty I am having is sussing out which one of those eeproms is the one that's used to store the software we want to try and reset and what the others are used for (given that one will likely be a back up).

We can rule out the MP23630N as it's not an epprom and I am pretty sure we can rule out the ATMLH816 (also know as AT24C32CN) as it only has 32K of memory, not enough to store the operating system, it requires a minimum of 256K. The remaining 3 ATMLH820 (also known as AT24C02) are essentially the same as the previously mentioned AT24C256B (the one Techamp want's to be replacing, lol) except they are surface mount rather than through hole IC's.

Soooooo that tells me one of the 3 ATMLH820 will store the operating system, another will store the back up (or possibly both, I just don't know)

Here is my dilemma, lol. I presume you chose IC3106 because it was beside the 100 ohm resistor but that was from Scenics reply to what we now know is Techamps pics (the BN41-00813E mainboard) So I personally wouldn't apply that to your board, given it's a different design.

Now, lol. Like I mentioned originally I cant find any cases were even resetting or replacing the eeprom on the LE37A556 (BN41-0094A) has been done. although it has been done on the LE40A557 (mainboard BN44-00199A) and it is located at IC5107.

My gut instinct is that the eeprom is the problem and replacing it is a lot cheaper the paying out for a replacement main board (A lot!). The problem is, I'm stumped at this point. I even have the service manual and it states, from what I can tell, that it uses a AT24C256B (the one Techamp needs?!?!) and it is definitely the parts list for the LE37A556P1F (BN41-0094A).

My brain is frazzled (I need another coffee!) and we need someone with more knowledge about your main board. My problem now is I won't be happy till I find out which one it is!

Yeah they are well made and are good for multitasking etc. They come with docstogo for reading and writing excel word powerpoint etc. The Andriod app app hasn't come on yet thats supposed to be this month some time which will make it better again.

The real benefit is linking it to nearly every phone ( Except and Iphone ) to connect it to the internet on the move or if you have a Blackberry then its great for connecting to your phone.

Not good for close up pictures though by the looks of it! lol

I can see this thread getting even more off topic than just Techamps confusing posts! hahahaha!! I have had my eyes on those playbooks for a while now considering the price, what your getting for your money and the ability to use android apps. My main use would be light surfing and in particular reading PDF. documents, would you recommend them?

Just in case Scenic reads through this, you have also been confused by the looks of it by post 8 which is Jasgriff and post 9 which is Techamp.

I thought that but I have started to notice more and more people asking for the spec of the caps to match up good replacements. I have another one of these Technika ones so I will be sure to make a new thread with a few pics incase anyone else comes across the same issue.

I don't have my proper camera to hand so I am charging up a playbook to see if I can get a couple of pictures of my mainboard using that.

you don't need a spec sheet for the caps. So long as you are using good quality low ESR caps and the values are the same (voltage can be higher but I wouldn't get crazy! always use the same uF value) you will be good. If they are both 25v 1000uF then personally I would replace them with 35v 1000uF low ESR branded caps, Panasonic, Rubycon, Nichicon etc.

Yeah 2 bad caps on the power supply. Looks like i forgot to plug the DVD drive back in when I put it back together though

How can I get the spec sheet on a j.d 25v1000uf CD286? I want to make sure I am using the right replacements.

Samsung UE46EH5000 - Flashing red light but not turning on
    by Phil289
    Hi
I aquired a Samsung UE46EH5000 from a lady that said it was turning on and off so she just purchased a new one.
On plugging into the mains and turning on i get a solid red light.
On using the on/off button or remote i just get a flashing red light in a pattern of flash/flash gap flash/flash gap flash/flash etc.
Opened it up and disconnected the main board from the power board by removing the connecting ribbon cable with the hope of getting either a 'no backlight' or a 'working backlight' but got neither,i just got a blinking backlight that turned on and off randomly...

HP Elitebook 845 G8 dead, only caps lock flashing 7 times. Charging light always on
    by esqmooo
    Hello everyone.

This is my development machine. I've been using it since two years and half without any problem except sometimes it wouldn't wake up from sleep.
Lately the issue became more frequent and powering it up would take few seconds to show the POST screen.
Then the computer refuses to power on at all. Now only the caps lock button flashes 7 times then stops. The charging light is always on whenever a power source is connected (battery or charger).
I tried long pressing on the power button, after several seconds it would go off then when the button is released...
