    19" LCD Inverter fuse

Picked up a 19" Murphy LCD tv today, turns on and produces just sound. Checked for 2 seconds to black but it appeared that the CCFLs weren't lighting at all.

Checked power going to inverter (pcb used is a FLY-IV190411 REV:1.0) found 12vdc and 4.3vdc so assumed power was getting there (this set uses a 12v brick type PSU)

Looked closely at the inverter and found a SMD fuse, this was blown. Checked every semiconductor on the board, also checked transformers all showed ok - no shorts so I fitted a replacement fuse (very fine piece of wire, approx half as thick as 1A fuse wire) and the set it now working.

My question is, there is no rating marked on the PCB - what value of fuse would be a sensible choice? I'd like to put a proper fuse in the inverter before I sell it on.

    (stock photo attached)

SMD fuse is at 1 o'clock of the electrolytic cap beside the power connector.

    Re: 19" LCD Inverter fuse

Was there a letter written on the fuse?

Power consumption of 19" LCD is about 40W, so estimate 80% of that as inverter so around 2.6A at 12V, maybe increase that a bit, 3.15A or 4A, just estimations but they should be fine. Remember though this fuse only has to protect against a short circuit failure not a long term over-current. And the power supply is most likely short circuit protected.

That board at SJ has a (T) for fuse F1 which is a 5 amp
        S rating is 4 amp
        Usually fast acting 32 volt

Heater element wire type instead of a fuse when troubleshooting a short circuit DIY
            by sam_sam_sam
I was Ollie today which is a close out / surplus outlet store I do not go in there to often because you find things that you should not be tempted by but that is a another story

I saw a small space heater that used a wire type of heater element which I been looking for a while but not really hard mind you but when I saw this I grabbed it I going to go back tomorrow and buy the last one that is like the one I bought today because I need the heater element and the ceramic insulators and more of heat element wire because this one has two different wattage settings one 1300 watts ( tap...

A funny fuse story – Lumix LX100 II
            by corrize
Hello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
            The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping...

            Fancoil.controller with current issues
            by edugimeno
Hi there! One friend called to say his fancoill (used for a main access cold Air courtain) controller caught fire, and asking if I could recover the half burnt board
He said the design was too bad as this thing was probably designed for hot water only, as the board was places right underneath the condenser radiators
I found some burnt traces and after a quick Google search for the board name (Pwr-05v-w) I could see an image of the original I was able to find where the original traces were going
The scheme seems simple, from what I understand mains gets into the while 3 lead...

Thinkpad T60 display, first no backlight, now nothing (long story and pictures inside
            by SluggerB
I have an old T60 where the display was showing the "red haze" indicating the CCFL was on its way out. Eventually it developed a condition where upon a fresh reboot the display would be fine for a few minutes, and then the back light would go out. Plugging an external display into the VGA port showed the laptop was still working fine.

I ordered a new screen, an AU Optronics 14.1" 30pin Matte LCD Screen B141XG09. I disassembled the laptop to prepare for the screen swap. When the screen showed up, the white plug was not the right kind to fit into my inverter. So I...
