It all depends on the price and how much time and money you are willing to risk. I have worked on one that was worse and fixed it.

Some people want $300-$400 just because they paid a fortune for it back then when it was new. I won't pay more than $100 with the remote. Most are for less and one was for free if I removed it from the wall mount and took it away, but it was missing a stand.

No, not a resistor mod set. I have done a couple of those. Those symptoms are very different and affect the entire screen with slow motion and dull colors. The screens I have worked on showed primarily red with few other colors.

The guy is selling for $75 but I might be able to talk him down since nobody's shown any interest besides me. I'd be willing to put maybe around $100 into it, as long as that's a longterm fix.

$75 is a fair price, with the remote. Lower is always better. Buy a pak of the vinyl bumpers from Crappy Tire. You will also need a 2x4 x24 inch piece of wood. Let me know when you are ready to work on it.

You snooze, you lose. A lot of these have worked themselves out of circulation. Either scrapped, traded or patched with a poor repair or even fixed. I have not seen any listed for sale for 3-4 months.

Here's the situation when I turn on the TV and after half hour, turn it off and back on and the image comes back (4th image) but with a portion with different quality, with a horizontal line start from nothing on right to very visible on the left end.

spec wise the panels are the same. the drivers and tcons are obviously different but what made me want to give this a try is that the wiring diagrams for the data signals going into the tcon for each tv were nearly identical. there are only a couple pins that i am unsure about and that is what brings me here.

the 930d has the DPS board where the 900h has none, however, if you follow the pins to the BM1 it would appear that the signals...

Bad Panel in Sony Bravia X850G
                    by guidodroid
                    Hello all,
I'm trying to understand what is the issue with my 26 months old Sony Bravia KD-65XG8505 (XBR65X850G).
It is just few months out of warranty, so Sony doesn't want to do anything, and the local replacement shop also tells me that it's not worth repairing (alhtough this model costed almost 1000 euros just 2 years ago...).

Few nights ago the TV started showing some horizontal lines and distorted colors/geometries in the bottom part of the screen (see attached photos).
The issue is not as bad as others that I've seen around, but is indeed noticeable...

Sony KDL-55W828B Hotspot in LCD panel

                    Hello everybody,

I need your expertise if my asumption about the failure of this TV is correct.

A Sony KDL-55W828B only shows vertical red stripes that vanish to the top when switched on.
When only the right side of the LCD is plugged into the T-CON board the right side shows a good image, while the left side is white.
When only the left side of the LCD is plugged into the T-CON board the LCD shows a complete white image.

I checked some signals on the T-CON board but was not able to find something strange. Then I checked the the caps...

Sony KD-70X690E Bravia; Bad TCON? Bad panel?
                    by swrb898
What's wrong with my TV: the TCON, the panel, or something else? I'm stuck.

                    Problem:

Last week, my Sony KD-70X690E 70" stopped displaying a picture. The TV powers on, and the back lights power on. However, the TV doesn't seem to boot up. I say this because the SONY splash-screen logo does not display, nor does any picture display, nor can I invoke a menu by pressing "Menu" on the remote. Other than back-light bleed, the screen is black.

My troubleshooting got me this far:

With the left-hand TCON to bottom-board ribbon cable...

                    Sony Bravia 75X850C panel
                    by m4a2t0t
After changing out the backlights I have a single green vertical line on the left side of the screen. Is there any way to fix it? I tried putting pressure on all the tabs and on the top of the panel but neither helped.
Does Sony epoxy all their panels or just the expensive ones?
