    Lg 42pc3d

Hey there, I have my beautiful ( but at the moment useless) LG 42". I have studied some of the forums with similar problems in the same model ( No picture, but sound) And heard that the problem could be minor or fairly major. Its important to not that I have ZERO experience, but some mild back ground working on computers ( building them), I was still absolutely lost when i pulled the frame off the back of this beast.

So, I need some assistance obviously with trouble shooting while I do a Google search for maybe finding some sort of technical manual in PDF format.

The service manual can be found at Elektrotanya. It's the second on the list.

This TV is notorious for failures in the Z-Sustain and the Y-Sustain, commonly the hybrid. The hybrid is expensive ($40) and difficult to remove. There are a number of repair services on eBay, or you may find a new or repaired one available. A failure of the Z-Sustain results in a very dark picture, with a faint image visible at the right side. A failure in the Y-Sustain results n a completely black screen.

I read a another thread that suggested shining a bright LED light at the screen to see if there is any color at all, I attempted this and its completely black, but the screen does "prime" with no picture at all. and this is likely the Z-sus you say? Might I ask the technical level of replacing it.

        That's an LCD thing.

If you have the "prime" glow from the plasma, the Y-sus is quite likely okay. I would say Z-sus. A quick check: Turn on the TV for 30 mins, then turn it off. Feel the heatsinks of the Y-sus and Z-sus. Are either warm?

Can you post a pic of the Z-sus? There are usually a few fuses on them that can sometimes blow even without a fault.

Lose the colors. You really don't want to do anything that makes it difficult to read your posts.

Replacing the Z-sustain is moderately easy. Four or five mounting screws, 5 connectors (one of which is a pain), and one adjustment to do after installing the replacement. It's a lot easier than pulling the back off- those metal edges are sharp!

If you have a meter you can check the fuses. My z-sustain board blew one of the fuses and I just replaced the board. Pretty simple like Bill said.

              Hi Guys,

I have a faulty Sansui SV-EPD-42Q0BP plasma television that is faulty.

Symptom: very dim column of broken picture on right hand side. A column about an eighth of the screen width. the other 7/8 of the screen blank.

              Diagnosed: 1) Capacitors C96 & C100 both 47uf/250v swollen/ ruptured.
              2) Fuse FS152 4A Open circuit.
              3) Pin +VS on Hybrid ic measures 0.8 ohms to Gnd.
(this is with the pin de-soldered from the pcb.
              4) D96 & D85 on the +VS supply measure ok.

SANSUI PLASMA: Could mains surge damage Zsustain only?
              by Grunder
              Hi Guys,

              I have a Sansui SV-EPD-42QOBP that has a damaged Z SUSTAIN board.
Is it possible for a mains surge to damage the Z SUSTAIN board only.

As a rule I dont do plasma tv repairs, but a customer needs a damage report for their insurance broker, so I took it on.

I do a lot of damage reports on lcds, these range from cracked panels, liquid damage and power surges. In most instances the surge damage is quite evident where you can see damage in the front end of the power supply.
(these surges appear after a power outage and the power comes...

              LG 42PC3D Main Board Problem
              by Edintexas
I have a question regarding an LG 42PC3D-UE main board.

Initially I suspected the SMPS so I replaced all the electrolytics on the secondary side just as a precaution. All the voltages are present and correct.

This TV powers up, there is screen glow, but it won't respond to commands or accept inputs.

That is, until I press SW4001. This is a small momentary switch located just below and to the right of the RF module on the Main Board (this is the UE version so there is only one main board). As soon as this switch is pressed the TV accepts input, displays...

              PS5 EDM-010 - Intermittently Power
              by ronaldopdias
              Hi everyone,

I received this PS5 for repair, and it’s been quite difficult to diagnose.
It beeps once and turns off. The power draw goes up to 100W, then drops back to 0.20W. However, if I keep trying to power it on, it eventually turns on and stays on. I can play games without any issues.

Once it's turned on, I can shut down and power back on normally.
But if I leave it off for an hour or so, it starts beeping again and shuts down—back to square one.

I couldn't find any shorts on the board.

The UART log shows the following:...

Wine cooler flickers at startup and doesn't cool enough
              by edugimeno
              Hi there!
I have an old wine bottle cooler, it's a basic peltier cell system with a power supply built in with the controller board, with a simple display at the front door and 2 push buttons to select the desired temperatura.
Symptoms are it doesn't barely cool down, and makes a chirping noise at the board.
Both fans on each side of the peltier are (now, after much cleaning) running smooth and silent
When you turn it on, the front 7-segment display flickers for a variable time, usually like 1 minute but sometimes nothing or 3 minutes... Then turn on solid (but still some...
