Hi everyone,
I received this PS5 for repair, and it’s been quite difficult to diagnose.
It beeps once and turns off. The power draw goes up to 100W, then drops back to 0.20W. However, if I keep trying to power it on, it eventually turns on and stays on. I can play games without any issues.
Once it's turned on, I can shut down and power back on normally.
But if I leave it off for an hour or so, it starts beeping again and shuts down—back to square one.
I couldn't find any shorts on the board.
The UART log shows the following:
Error code: 80800024 Description: APU - known unknown 80800024 (power or short) - (check APU for die cracks). There are no die cracks, the usual liquid metal and mild oxidation but nothing serious, and we have already replaced liquid metal and polished the APU / heatsink as we always do for heat transfer.
Has anyone seen a similar issue or could point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.
