    LG 50PC3D washed out picture

Have been playing with a LG 50" plasma tv,,,power board required 9- 10V 3300uf caps to be replaced ,,,were replaced with Rubycon caps of the same value...The good is set power up ,,,sound responds to commands,,,the bad,,,picture is there, but is lazy and washed out..the picture has no distortion lines ect ect,,,just poor color poor brightness .do not see components with issues on sustain boards,,,removed buffers ,,,no obvious shorts noted on chips...could use a little help on which component would be suspect to this issue thanks.....

Bad Z-sustain probably. Can you take a picture of the board on the right hand side of the TV? It's usually marked with ZSUS. Also, it's the board that's *not* connected to the buffers; it connects straight to the display.

I repaired a TV with a fault like this; the Vsus fuse on the Z-sustain was blown. This caused the picture to appear purple and slow to update (things tended to exhibit motion blur). Replacing the fuse fixed the problem.

Quite possibly you have a bad "hybrid" (the IC under the big heatsink.) Yes, a new hybrid will cost around 80% the cost of a new sustain board, so it's not really worth replacing the hybrid. And it's a bastard to do.

Are there any fuses on the Z-sustain at all?

Yes I have a lot of TVs, but my junk pile consists of just one TV (that I haven't got around to fixing yet) - all the others have been successfully fixed and sold or are in use in the house!

My "good used" board showed up,,,installed it ,,,tv picture is better ,not perfect,,,,had it running for half hour noticed heat sinks were not getting warm,,,looked things over noticed I did not plug cable P1 into the board ,,,this cable comes from control board ,,the one with the lit led's ,,upon inserting the plug (tv is running) there is a very loud pop from the z sustain board,,dog won't come in the kitchen now,,,don't think my good used board was too good ,,,so much for used parts,,,a little leary on putting in a rebuilt board ,,,and watch it go up in smoke

You should have turned the set off and let it sit for a few min. before plugging in the cable. You probably blew something on the board or the control board.

from a cold start With my "good used" board installed this would shut the tv down upon start up,,,I have 2 power boards a known good one and the one I re-capped that came out of it,,,was questioning if the power supply had a problem so replaced the power board,,,tv stays running,,,then noticed I didn't plug in P1,,plugged it in,,,guaranteed z sustain board now has a problem for sure!!!

Not necessarily. If you plugged it in and the board was cold, the "crack" sound was probably just the caps charging up real quick. You have probably blown the fuse, just replace that and connect it before powering up the TV.

It might be a small SMD fuse, white, about 0.12" by 0.063".

Do you have a part number for the z sustain board?

Un70nu6900 taped lvds, how to fix washed out 1/2 picture?
                          by mecha1166
I am getting these 70 inch Samsungs daily. Dead set light comes on goes off, dark screen. Tried taping the problem lvds cable pins 13 to ? pin, used about 9 mm scotch tape. Picture comes on, no distortion lines, looks good, but 1/2 of screen is washed out. Problem seems to always be the last little strip on the bottom. Has anyone found what is actually the problem? Possibly one of three diodes there? I have a pic but it is washed out on 1/2. Anyony had success in fully restoring the picture? Thanks.

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
                          by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                          Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                          First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

SAMSUNG UN55KS9000F picture fades then distorts into vertical lines after 20 seconds
                          by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                          Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
                          by TR103
                          Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                          - sound and backlight, but no picture
                          - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                          - it keeps rebooting
                          - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                          - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                          by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and
                          ...
