    Alba LCD32HDF

    Hi all have a problem with a 32" Alba unit ,
    i have sound but no picture so opened up the back and saw that the inverter board has had a repair attempted so using the board numbers i ordered a new board (17INV03-2A).
    New board arrived and it is different in the fact that it is a 7 lamp output and not 6 as mine.

    On close inspection it looks to me like a factory option for want of a better word for it ,the solder pads look clean and not as if someone has tried to rig it to work on this tv though saying that i am now not even sure this is the correct board for this tv .

    All outputs from the psu are working and correct ,i have even tried a new psu as i have one spare (17pw26-4 v.1)

    24v = 24.3v on all 4
    ENB = 3.3v constant
    DIM = 3.2v constant

    I am not sure where to go with this now as i dont want to start taking bits off a perfectly good new board unless someone has come across this before or know of another board that is supposed to go on here .
    Have looked up the board by Model number of the TV but this brings up an 8 lamp unit any help or input welcome plaese

    Use the number on the bar code. you will note they are different.
    The number you used is for the bare PC board.

      Tried both codes and that gives me nothing in any searches

        Dose it look like the repair attempt was simply replacement of the fuse,are there other things look like they have been replaced?

          Yes the 2 fuses marked in red both gone one has been replaced but blown again and one is original

          Both these 8 legged smd in green
          F p j5ch
          fds
          8978

          Obviously one badly bridge soldered so maybe worth me cleaning them up and start from scratch and see where i am then

              I don't know how much you've got invested, But sometimes ICs can be hard to come up with.
              If you're lucky you just may have a enough good parts to make one inverter working.

                Re: Alba LCD32HDF

                The replacement board was £40 so you can see why i am loath to take parts off of it for resale purposes as its obviously not an exact match .

                I will try replacing the fuses and clean up the ics and try it , i would assume the worst that can happen is it will blow the fuses again

                  Heres the data sheet,They may be shorted.

                    These ics are gone when comparing them to the ones on the new board .

                    But have also found that one of the fuses on the new board has blown
                    which is strange as i have not fitted it or powered it up

                      Have you tested the inverter transformers? They can be replaced individually.

                        Have checked the transformers on both boards and they are ok .
                        Replaced the fuse on the new board and still will not light up ?

                        Am going to test the lamps to make sure they are working and then report back .

                          Did you test the secondaries *and* primaries?

                            No just the secondaries but this is a brand new board so there should not be any problems with it

                            I may be overlooking something on the main board or T con as i have sound but no light so assumed (maybe stupidly) that the inverter board was the problem as someone has messed with it

                              The new board may not work. the system may sense that there is no current flowing through the extra output and shut it down.

                                I wired the board up to a tv with 8 lamps (which has a broken screen)
                                and i know these all work but the same result none of them lit up.
                                But looking at the wiring on the plug that goes from the PSU to the inverter
                                there are 2 spare grounds that are not wired and i was wondering if one of these may be a ground return and maybe thats why its not firing up ??
                                Any thoughts .

                                  On backlights on televisions I have noticed a little different setup on some than you would see in a monitor.
                                  Some have a connector with 2 wires going into the inverter plug, But they are HOT wires. The return side of the CCFL is clipped to the metal frame of the screen.
                                  And some use a set up like we are used to seeing in just an ordinary 22” monitor.
                                  If it’s using the setup of using the frame for the return ground the CCFLs usualy will snap in over the metal ends of the CCFLs.
                                  Are they using the same setup for both panels?

                                    Both panels are using the live and earth in the connector plugs
                                    ie one pink thick wire and a thin white wire
