Advice needed regarding switching psu recap

I am going to recap a dvr PSU in order to extend its lifetime.

Among others there are three Samxon KM series 0.22uf 50V caps on the psu board and I have hard time finding suitable replacement for these. If I understand correctly these small capacitance caps are not stressed as much as the higer rated ones in a switching power supply and I wonder if replacing these is even necessary? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

I say go for it. Nichicon VZ series would probably work in a pinch.

You haven't entered your location in your profile which makes it hard to give advice on where to get parts.

Thanks for replies. The problem is that I'm located in Finland and there seems to be limited availability for low esr capacitors locally (could not find a source for Nichicon VZ series here).

I guess it's not feasible to use a ceramic capacitor for replacement?

I don't really know what you are looking at but if lytics were used in the first place then probably not.
There are a lot of caps in that range to choose from LXZ, FC, PW, PM to name a few.

In Finland you have RS Components and Farnell.

If you want to source locally i think ELFA has some low ESR and local distribution center. Like Suncon/Sanyo WX for instance. If you want lower ESR, like motherboard grade and stuff you might have to go for abroad orders. ELFAs finish site is at www.elfaelektroniikka.fi

btw, KM is a General Purpose series from what i can see so just about anything would do ok there.

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
              by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

              Windows 11 buying advice needed
              by Hondaman
My mother may soon need to upgrade from Win7 (to continue safe browsing, e-mail, and office tasks, without a printer). Right now, she uses an Intel Core2Quad 9550 CPU (not sure of motherboard). Video is either the Radeon 6670 or 6770, completely air-cooled, with fins like a motorcycle engine (I think I pointed a 120mm fan at it). PSU is probably Seasonic, still running after 14 years (I choose quality). I am not sure of the RAM, or the PCI-e wifi chip. Probably 8 GB or 16 GB. Perfect for WIndows 7.

She does not want to switch to Linux. And she does not want to use a laptop because...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
              by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Advice needed-Technika 32-207 works but sticks on channel, won’t change channels ok
              by rustinjust
My tv will work for a while and change channels with the remote as it should but then it will stick on one channel only and work ok but it won't change channels. I have tried unplugging it for hours and whilst unplugged pressing the power button on the tv to reset it.

The volume button on the remote still works but it just won't change channels once it decides to stick on one channel

It has built in basic freeview tv here in the uk, I've tried doing an automatic search to reset the tv but nothing works.

I have to turn the tv off and then on again with...
