I have a Sharp Aquos that has a blinking power light only. Based on the service manual it says it has a bad panel? Can I take this at face value or could it be another issue? I've checked voltages to the inverter and main board. They check good to what is on the power board. I've unplugged the tcon board to see if I can just get the backlights, but nothing.

Update - after confirming voltages, decided to swap out inverter. The inverter looks like some children soldered it together. I could confirm 24v going to the transformers but it seems like the startup would fail when trying to start the backlights. New inverter works, backlights working. -

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-42D65U No Backlight/Sound
Good to know that the manufacture considers the Inverter Board part of the LCD panel. I have noticed that when they ship out new screens it comes with parts. Sometimes they come with all the parts except for the main board and Power Supply.
I am about to work on this LC-42D65U, I will look first at the Inverter Board.Comment

The newer panel with LED backlights usually does not come with LED drivers.Attached FilesNever stop learning

I have a Brand New 60" Samsung Plasma Screen right here, still wrapped in plastic. No TV to put it in. It has all the boards on it except the power and main. And there is no buttons. All I need is a frame.Comment

by triplefourthis tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even... -
by IerwinHello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged... -
by QuestcomHi All,
I have recently purchased a faulty Sharp Aquos 40aj6ke which turns on and has backlight but has no sound or video, the person I brought it from told me he had changed the main board and the same fault was there.
I have tested voltages on main board and they seems ok, the backlight is at 75v, I believe this tv has 3 x 8 strips of leds which 75v would work out to around 3v per led
I think the issue is on the board that attaches to the lcd, doing a bit of digging watching videos etc, there is a lot of mention of vgl and vgh being around -8 and... -
by Superbee_dadHello Sharp TV experts
Our Sharp LC-80LE642U displays one short one long flash error code which is a backlight error. I went into service mode and there were 8 lamp error counts recorded. I reset the count to 0 and did a reset. The last monitor error cause was 16 B00014639:12. 16 is the code for backlight error. I tried to power the tv up but went back into error mode.

it shows not even a flash of backlight when powering up.
but the tv appeas to turn on and i can hear the sound of the menus moving and clicking. i can power down the tv with the button.
testing the backlights with my tester all 4 strings lit up and showed similar voltage drops. around 110 or so.
unplug mb and leave only psu plugged into backlights (PSU + BL SELF TEST MODE?) does not light the backlights.
i do see 24v but 0v on PSON and BLON (i didnt write this down tho so cant be sure)
