    Zenith Z42PJ240 YSUS Board?

I was having problems with my plasma displaying vertical lines only on the far 3 inches of the right side top to bottom and now today it powers on and then buzzes and powers off no picture and no sound I took the back off and found the buzzing coming from the ysus board so I unhooked it and now the tv comes on with sound but no picture. Would installing a new ysus board fix this problem?

Maybe. However, the original problem (vertical lines) was a bad X buffer or plasma panel.

When the tv had the vertical lines if you hit the back of the tv they would clear up would this be cause by a bad buffer?

A buzzing sound emitted by the TV is indicative of a broken panel. The fact that the buzzing stops when the Y-sus is disconnected just means that the panel is not receiving any voltage not that the Y-sus is bad. Perhaps in the process of hitting the TV to fix the vertical lines you cracked the panel near the edge or broke the glass nipple on the panel.

These tvs would eat y sus boards for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. (as would many other plasma tvs)

I would agree with Plainbill your original problem was the x buffer not the y sus.

It may have just been a connection issue. I have repaired a few of these and I have had the problems you are talking about.

Mostly I have replaced the y sus

When you unplug an x buffer the y drive and/or z drive buzz louder.

Chances are you just have a bad or weak connection.
