50" Philips 50PFP5332D/37 no picture, has sound

My Phillips 50" plasma tv lost picture but has sound. Tv was on but not being watched when it quit. Dont know if it made any noise or such. We had no luck leaving tv unplugged for 24 hours. Blue power light comes on steady. Ive looked at all the caps, tested the fuses, and looked for burnt spots on boards. With power turned on, several green led's lite steady and 1 flashing green led. I can hear relays click on at tv center and can hear a buzz from a board on screen right(right side if looking at screen, left side if looking from back). Can anyone give me an idea of where the problem could be so I can scrutinize and further check closer. If I need to provide any further info let me know, thanks.

Please post pictures of the boards inside the TV under "Manage Attachments". People won't respond if you don't attach photo's as a reference

Pic 1&3 are rotated(sorry), each are boards on side of tv. I can hear noises from boards in pic 1&2. Some of the small boards are behind chassis brackets and hard to get to, if I need to tear apart I will.

Those pictures are really too small to examine anything. Can you get bigger ones in good light?

As it stands, in the second pic it looks like you have bulging caps, remember they only have to be slightly bulged before failure. There looks to be one next to the middle heatsink, and *possibly* ones near the left hand heatsink, they are very small and hard to see.

The best I can do at this time is take photos closer to caps, only have a phone camera. Ive looked closer at the cap in center of heatsink and it does look like it has a small buldge, the others in question Im still not sure about.

The one with a black top - is that bulging at all? Can you press in the top?

I'd say replace all the suspect caps, and see if that fixes the problem. If not, we need to look deeper.

In no particular order, place the following items on your 'to do' list.

                  1. Replace the bulging cap under the heat sink. It almost certainly is not the cause of the problem, but it should be replaced.

                  2. Ignore the cap with the plastic top. Those disks always bulge.

                  3. There are cables running from the power supply to the Y-Sustain (left side) and X-sustain (right side). The voltages on those cables are noted on the power supply. Some of them, such as Va, Vscan, etc. are listed on a white label on the back of the panel itself.

                  4. Check the fuses on the sustains.

                  5. Decent 4 megapixel cameras are available used on eBay for under $15, including shipping. Buy one.

                  6. The service manual is available at Elektrotanya.

                  7. Philips has a service manual covering troubleshooting the plasma panels in the TVs they sell. To locate that it is necessary to know the model number of the plasma panel in the TV. That information is also on a label on the plasma panel.

so was there ever a solution to this problem? I'm having the same issue. The black cap seems like it is slightly buldging also. How can I replace this? Seems straight forward, although, I haven't done anything like this since high school.

The big black cap has a slightly domed top even new. Post some photos of oyour boards. Are you getting the same no picture but has sound?

Hello I am new to this site, I recently got a 50 PFP5332D/37 tv. I turned it on and I have a very dark screen, almost No color to it at all, I do have sound. I tried plugging in my dvd player and that does play and I have audio but again the picture is almost all very dark. When I try to select the menu button my screen pixels seem very slow to operate, the screen seemed to slowly fill in in various spots but eventually did fill in. The blue light is on in the front and I did notice 1 green light on in the back, not sure if there should be more on or not? Any ideas of what to check first would be great!! Thanks so much

For a little more information I did remove the back of my set and check all my fuses with a fluke meter set on ohm's to sound when resistnace is good, every fuse beeped telling me that they are all ok. I did notice that when the set is on there is a Led blinking. the location is on the lower left board and the Led# is 2002. On the same board there are 2 other Led's and there numbers are 2000 and 2003 and they stay on solid! All the other Led's on the set stay on solid, so I am wondering is there a fault here and thats why it's blinking if so how do I figure out the root problem?

The green light blinking and the other 2 staying solid is normal. Thats what it does on my set. I think its blinking because it's getting a signal. Is the dark picture complete or does it have a lava lamp apperance?

When using continuity beep mode on any multimeter to test a fuse, the results are unreliable.

Most Flukes will beep "continuous" for resistance readings less than 30 ohms.

A good fuse should measure less than 1.0 ohms.

I have a fuse that beeps on my Fluke. Is it good? Nope, it reads 18 ohms.

Some cheaper multimeters will beep continuous for readings less than 1800 ohms.

If you've got a dark, very poorly lit screen, it's almost always the X-main/Z-sustain board (Samsung/LG terminology.)

                                          Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                                          - sound and backlight, but no picture
                                          - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                                          - it keeps rebooting
                                          - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                                          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                                          - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                                          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture

I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

Samsung UN70NU6900F no picture and no sound

                                          Hi all

I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.

                                          Symptom:
                                          No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
                                          No sound at all.

                                          What I tried:
                                          1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon...

Philips 43PUS7506/12 - Loud blown out sound
                                          by aidanmo
                                          Hello,

I've got a really strange issue with the speakers on my Philips 43PUS7506/12. It makes this awful loud buzzing now. It happened after it was attempted to be wall mounted - I think the back got squeezed and something broke.
I thought maybe the speakers got damaged, so I replaced them - no dice.
                                          • Using the internal speakers, it always happens.
                                          • Using the headphone jack, it never happens.
                                          • Using the digital/optical out with a soundbar - it happens after about 2h/movie runtime - it's never as drastic, it just pops in and out, but I didn't want it to damage the sound bar

so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...
