    LG 37LG55 LCDTV standby problem

After reading some threads here Im ironically comforted by other people with similar problems (they dont build stuff like they used to).

I have a 37lc55 and the standby mode is starting to get persistent. I have to try up to 5 times now to get the tv to switch on from standby. It's been getting a little worse from a week ago when when it 1st happened.

I see a lot of suggestions for ZSUS boards being guilty in situations like this.

Does mine sound like a ZSUS problem?
Does anyone know where I can get a spare (UK/Europe)?
Does anyone know the part number?

This is a very rare card, so rare it's called 'nonexistium'. Z-sus (or Z-Sustain) boards are only used on plasma TVs. You have an LCD TV.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

This sounds like potentially bad caps. As the caps warm up, their ESR (ohms) drops and allows the TV to come on.

You will have to open up the tv and look for bad caps.

Thanks for the reply, my repair work only ever extended to dry joints until now but if the TV continues to fail I will have nothing to lose in trying.

        2 more questions..
What does a bad cap look like? Burnt, swollen or what?
Are bad caps just bad caps or is there likely to be a root cause (like leaving the TV on standby nearly every minute it's not being watched)?

Swollen is the answer. If you need a picture, just type that in google and search for images. You might find a few. lol. Just wanted to add that they dont have to be swollen to be bad. Sometimes they get out of tolerance and act like higher or lower capacitors.

Hi everybody. I have same problem to startup from standby with LG 37LC52. I donn't know what capacitor to replace. Do you have any schematics or could you help me with C reference designators and values? Thanks a lot.

The failed capacitors on these models are very obvious when they fail. Post a picture of your power board.

Good luck. You have four capacitors that are very obviously failed; replacing those should fix the issue. I would recommend replacing all the capacitors at the same time.

I see at least 4 swollen caps on that board. Replace all of the caps above the dotted line (top). Use Panasonic FM or FC series caps. Even though some look ok, they will fail and you will have the problem.

Hello forum. I've recently been given a Yamaha TSX 120 DAB radio and ipod dock. Its working well however when put on standby its using 6.3 watts. The manual states less than 1 watt on standby. I measured this with a plug in monitor which seems accurate with other items. In use it uses around 7.5 watts. Firstly has anyone who owns a similar radio also got a plug in monitor to check if this is normal with this unit? In the first half a second the monitor shows 0.3 watts which I suspect is what it should use but something is switching it to be almost fully powered. I've searched the manual for eco...

I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
                                1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
                                2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
                                3. Problem: TV shuts down

The laptop was turned off because the MOSFET was not transmitting voltage. After checking it turned out that the gate pin on the MOSFET was the problem, because it was producing an inappropriate voltage. and it was discovered that the problem was with the Think engine, so I decided to reprint each pin, and finally the mosfet could work properly. However, there is another problem, even though the voltage has been supplied to the laptop, it still won't turn on, there isn't even an LED indicator. After double...

I was doing some modifications on that circuitry and managed to short something out on the underside of the power board.
