    Vizio VL370M

A Vizio VL370M appears to have a tcon problem:

The first picture is the upper left corner of the screen. The blue part is about 1/2 inch tall. The second picture is the the center of the screen. The orange/red appears to the be the top of a "no video" or other message. The center of the screen has a lighter vertical patch.

Selecting different inputs doesn't make a difference.

ESR on the caps looks okay, low on the power board (UCC KMG and Nichicon YXG), a little higher but not terrible on the processor board (Teapo SH and Taicon HF). Backlight comes on and stays on. Fuse and fusible links (FL) that are present are good.

Chips on the tcon board are

    U2- Maxim
    17180E
    T1920
1TB1 (not sure about that, it's really hard to read)

    US3- (TI logo)
    TPS6516
    94T
    AEJ5

    U5-
    BUF16821
    94TG4

    US4-
    L1117
    18A
...and drat, it measures 1.800V with power on, not just good but tauntingly perfect. The connectors at both ends of the short ribbon cables did have some fine dust in them, cleaned with paper. No difference.

Any way to tell if this is maybe the panel or the tcon board without a spare of either to swap? Common failures on the tcon other than the L1117?

    Thanks!

    Re: Vizio VL370M

The tcon board is LG Display LC370WUN/WUE_V4, P/N 6870C-0274A. That's visible in the picture but the text might be found by searchers.

With a computer attached to the VGA port, the top sliver of picture shows the wallpaper, and the mouse pointer when moved to the very top of the screen.

US3 is actually a TPS65161, a DC-DC converter. The output on pin 3 with the power on is 16.08V.

Oops--the tcon part number is actually 6870C-0247A. Transposed the last two numbers.

Same issue here its not a tab bond failure, any ideas ? Every time the lines come up the Tcon squeals. But I cant access it due to a silly cover so I cant test it easily

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
                    by Hakuu
                    Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                    More Details

                    TV Model - LG OLED77G1PUA

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                    by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

                    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
