    Pioneer PDP-504pe trap switch

This tripped me up last year! learned the hard way, I never had a media box, just got one today, still not able to get into service menu to reset the trap. the screen did work before I messed up so should be able to get it on, have googled this for hours, if anyone can help, this is what I have tried

media box and screen in standby

press info button (as soon as I do this screen comes out of standby! green and red led lit)

Wait 3 to 7 seconds (tried lots of variatons of this)

    press left.up,left, right

power on, screen should now power on in service mode (but it already switched on first button press)

I dont know what else to try?

    thanks Ronnie

The service manual is available on Elektrotanya. They mention resetting the trap switch.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

Hi PlainBill, thanks for the link, I have read that manual elsewhere, it tells you to go into service mode and then tells you to refer to another manual to do this! but the sequence I described earlier is suppose to acheive that?

          From manual-

¶ How to enter Factory mode using the remote control unit
Please refer to the technical documentation (Service knowhow).
¶ How to clear the detection log of the TRAP switch
In the INITIALIZE layer, hold the OSD key on the remote control unit pressed for at least 3 seconds.
¶ After a power-down, to cancel detection of the TRAP switch using only the remote control unit, follow the
          procedures below.
First, fix the TRAP switch to its depressed position. Set the drive ON/OFF switch in the DIGITAL VIDEO Assy to OFF,
Then enter the Factory mode. Press the MUTE key four times, then hold the OSD key pressed for at least 3 seconds. Set the AC switch on
the panel to OFF. The log is also cleared. Then set the drive ON/OFF switch to ON.
