Re: vizio 50 hdtv 20a have sound no picture
What is the exact model number of the TV? There is no Vizio 50 HDTV 20A; there are Vizio VP50 HDTV20A and P50 HDTV20A and they are plasma TVs.
Odds are you've got a shorted buffer(s) and blown Y-Sustain.

Re: vizio 50 hdtv 20a have sound no picture
I WOULD BUT IT,S HARD TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WHAT. i am a hands on guy but this stuff is all new to me the model is a s50hw-ydo2 i could not find the y sustain or the buffers not sure of the location i pulled some numbers off some of the boards this is what i have seen lj92 01500a / lj44 00132b / lj41 o5121a and 05122a / lj41 05170a and several other numbers any help with part numbers would be grateful sorry for bugging you guys .Comment

Re: vizio 50 hdtv 20a have sound no picture
You can usually plug those part numbers in Google to identify them...
lj44 00132b - power supply
lj92 01500a - z sus
lj41 05121a - y buffer
lj41 05122a - lower y buffer
lj41 05170a - interface board
Here's a general troubleshooting procedure:
Unplug TV, wait 5 minutes. Disconnect power cable from Y-Sus. Plug in TV and turn on. If it turns off by itself, the Y-Sus is not the problem. Unplug TV, wait 5 minutes, reconnect the power cable to the Y-Sus, disconnect the power cable from the Z-sus. Plug in TV and turn on. If it turns off by itself, it's not the Z-sus. Unplug TV. Wait 5 minutes, reconnect power cable to the Z-sus. Disconnect power cable to the X-card. Plug in TV and turn on. If it turns off by itself, replace the power supply.Last edited by daimoku; 04-04-2011, 10:37 AM.Comment

Re: vizio 50 hdtv 20a have sound no picture
do you have consistant voltage to all the transformers on the inverer board? and if you do, is there high votage coming out of all of them? if not I would check for issues with your low voltage signal, usely about 3 volts or so.Comment

by ggil44Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
by IerwinHello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged... - Loading...
