LG Plasma TV has gone on the blink

    Hi Tech Gurus,

My LG Plasma TV model PDP42V8 has gone on the blink. Was watching a program a minute there was a flash - bang and the display + audio was lost. The warranty had expired an year back. So trawled this forum and tried some DIY - opened up the TV - discharged all the caps and did what a good mechanical engineer does - gave a close once over using EYEBALL MK 1. Nothing - all the caps look good - except for some discoloration along the power supply board - have attached the following photos - please advise.

Does the power LED go green? Did you check to fuse to see if it is open?

First, put all boards back in and check all output voltages of PS.

I will need closer pics of the PS output connectors.

Thanks for the msg - the fuses are all checked and ok. The LED goes green and there is some clicking sound from the set once power is on.

The clicking sound is the relays... no biggee.
How many of the tiny green LED's stay lit up on the board?

If you have a problem with the y drive and/or buffers or the Z drive it could be sending the power supply into protect mode (no picture or sound).

You should be able to unplug y or z drives to check this power supply.
I am not sure if this is still the ipm style board. The power supply will then stay on
and if you have an input source playing you will then have sound and know what board to replace. If the power supply still shuts down then go after the power supply.

Don`t worry about green leds on control board.

I have not seen the driver boards for this tv yet and I could be wrong.
It would be nice to see the back of the panel and all of the boards.

Panasonic ZT60 plasma tv with strange behavior and 8 blink code
                by cloo
I recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.

So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...

Panasonic Plasma repair - TH-P60GT50 - Dead, 3 blink code
                by rmacintosh
I aquired this Panasonic 60" plasma around the time my first child was born. It was meant to be a project tv, hoping to fix it chipping away at the repair in my free time. Well that was 2 years ago and i'm really just getting around to making a sincere effort to see if I can ressurect this beast.

The symptoms of the tv ar as follows:
                • Plug AC in to back of TV
                • After about 2 seconds the relay on the P-sub board will click on and then a fraction of a second later it clicks back off
                • The 3 blink code is given by the power LED
                • If the TV is unplugged and then

Panasonic Plasma tc-p55vt50 6 blink error code
                by orbit417
                Hi All,

Thank you in advance for your advice.

I have a Panasonic Plasma tc-p55vt50 that's about 9 years old and has just recently stopped working :-(

I noticed that when I turn the tv on I hear a click then screen comes on for like half a second then shuts off and the led blinks 6 times.
I did some googling and found several video's on trouble shooting all sorts of blink codes. I finally came across one that showed 6 blink error code but for a different model. It recommended disconnecting the SC board to determine if it was the A board or power...

Un50cu7000 2 blink oddity *partially solved
                by EazyBone
I write this to maybe help another with this TV.

So I aquired this TV a 2023 model. It started the 2 blink reboot problem which indicates bad panel. It was still under warranty and the repair man came by.

The Samsung repairman brought a brand new panel and switched my original boards to the new panel. The new panel then had the 2 blink error code. The repair guy said he has seen this and the MAIN board on this model will cause the 2 blink. He then replaced the main/power board (they are both connected) and put it back onto my original panel. Voila it worked.

LG Plasma Model 42PC7RVH Chassis PDP42V8 - No picture!
                by angelos
                Hi Guys.
A week or so ago i asked how to get this plasma set into Auto Gen mode to see whether my drive panels are ok and now i know they are not. The set starts up by hearing a clicking and there is a slight pre charge flash, i have to cup my hands with my eyes against the screen to see it.
If i pull the AC mains plug i get an image on the screen. It's the exact image that is being auto generated by the logic board and then the tv dies off as power drains. I think the image is the for about 0.2 seconds before disappearing. I wrote down the voltages that i could find on the board...
