    vizio vl370m dead

vizio vl370M dead. No power light, no standby light nothing.
Ordered power supply board from discounttvparts. didn't help
I ordered board because I found a couple transistors shorted
and figured for 28.00 it would be easy enough not to repair board.
took readings on both boards with power applied and got 5.27 volts
on the three pinsmarked +5VSB, nothing on any of the other pins, three
pins are marked 12V, and 1 pin marked ps_on, pins 4 thru 8 are marked
sgnd. the ps board number is dps-201dp-1. the smaller pin outplug
is marked ACO, lamp_status, DCR,VBRA, on/off_inverter, dim. which have no voltage at all on anyy pins. Any ideas, I have no schematic for this set
did i get a defective ps, or is the main logic board gone bad?

Post some pictures of the set opened up. Pictures are our friends. Please use the "manage attatchments" on the post page instead of inline pictures.

Here are some pics of set inside as requested. After several tries, these are the clearest pics, I was using a blackberry, on the pinouts on the power board starting from the left on the large one is 3 - 5v, then sgnd from pin 4 to 8 , then you have 3 - 12v, and the last one is ps_on. On the small connector labels are from left to right ACD, Lamp_Status, DCR, VBRA, On/Off_Inverter, DIM. Numbers on both connectors go from right to left, IE. DIM is pin one, and PS_ON is pin one. The only voltage I get is 5.18 with the old board in place, and 5.27 with the board I just ordered, on pin 10, 11, 12 on the larger connector. No other pins show any voltage. Used magnifying looking glass to view both boards, no evident damaged components. This set was turned off one evening, the next day nothing. Voltage readings taken with a Fluke Digital Voltmeter.

Did you check the 5V on the old board? I had one that had 24V on the 5V due to a shorted transistor. I had to replace the main board, the pushbutton board and the infra-red board (for the remote. as well as the power supply. Then it worked fine except the power/standby light wouldn't come on. Couldn't find one.

bty, The power board must be connected to get anything other than 5v.

I have checked both boards, the old board had 5.18 volts on all three 5v pins, and the new board has 5.27 on all three pins. I ordered a new main board yesterday. 0171-2271-2855 is the number on the main board. The pushbuttons are part of the main board on this unit.

Who did you buy the PS board from? I hope not ebay.

Do me a quick favor. Measure the 5VDC on the ac setting. If you have a meter that says mVAC, this is the best setting for measuring ripple that could be on the 5V line.

Hmm was just told 10 minutes ago this set was hit by lightening, so no telling what i will run into. will see what I have when the board comes in. Checked no ripple in the 5 v

                  Vizio E65-F0 really dead
                  by Iain P
                  Hi everybody!

I've got a Vizio E65-F0 smart tv that is good and dead. It shows no signs of life when I press the power button on the back. The power LED in the lower right corner doesn't light, there is no backlight and no picture.

So I took the back off and started poking around figuring one or more of the caps had dried out. My esr meter says all the caps on the power supply board and the mainboard are less than 1 ohm.

I decided to check the voltages coming off the power supply they are as follows:

                  connector CN201
                  pin 1 (18vsb1)...

Recently had my bedroom Vizio D40u-D1 apparently die while it wasn't being used. Noticed the power LED flashing, figuring maybe a software upgrade, but attempting to turn it on proved that wasn't the case. When powered on, the power LED will flash a bunch of times after about 2 minutes then turn off again. Definitely is no picture even with a flashlight on the screen. Had the opportunity to open it up over the weekend. Doesn't apper to be anything out of the ordinary visibly inside, nor any odd smells of escaped magic smoke. Readings from the connector in the corner of the power supply board...

This is a dumpster find, don't know if it was hit, there are no visible cracks...

I though there may be something wrong with the panel voltages.
Those I managed to find on the T-Con board. Does it seem normal?

just wanted to drop this here in the interest of cataloging possible common failures of any tv. and to post about them even when im not asking for help, for it may help someone in the future when searching this model. didn't see this model of TV represented here so here is my report:

TV came in totally dead, no response. no standby LED.
                  tested backlights were OK
inspecting power supply: see no 5vsb
see no voltages on cold side at all
see no output from secondary of transformers, but voltage on primary input side.
indicates DC voltage going to transformers,...
