Vizio M60-D1 Won't Power On

    Vizio M60-D1 Won't Power On

    I did a quick search and only found one thread concerning this model - no power supply info inside. So here is the question:

    I have 10VDC where I should going to the backlight boards but my 12VDC lines for the logic/motherboard are reading 19.6 VDC. Does anyone have the schematics to the power supply for this TV?

    Would love to hear from someone else who fixed this set with this problem.

    Just read another thread for another model (with this power supply) that says 19VDC is normal and that the BGAs died quickly on this set... SIGH

      Test it, hit the bga with a hairdryer for a couple minutes then try it, don't wait til it cools off try it while it's still hot.

        Hmm - will a hair dryer be enough to get the joints connected for a boot? I have the board out and I have a heat gun, heat tape and foil ready to go....

          Don't think it's meant to fix it, just a test that quite often but not always, will let an image show for just a bit, which confirms a bga issue.

            That would be your diy reflow, can be good if done right, check youtube, many diy reflows there, I like the one the guy does with a halogen lamp, need to be careful with the temps, specially when using heat gun, too much will kill it, too little no solder melt, need to be careful not to blister the board also, I use no clean flux, if you get a fan blowing on your bga it should last a lot longer than no fan.

              Prepped my board as shown with a small bead of flux around the edge of each BGA. Heat gunned both BGAs for about 30 seconds each until the flux bubbled up. Cleaned the board, new thermal paste and then put it back in. Success!!!







              Thanks for the direct and indirect help here. Great to get a few knowledge bits from some threads and responses around here!

                My M60-D1 just died as well... 1) any other pins you tried testing on the power supply to confirm it's working? Mine also had ~19v on the 12 line.

                2) you heatgunned the BGAs on the main board?
