Philips 42PFP5332D/37 Plasma HDTV black screen

I have defective Philips 42PFP5332D/37 Plasma HDTV about three years old.
TV turns on, turn of, has good sound, switches channels etc... except one thing - No Picture at all. The scree remains BLACK all the time. Anyone had the similar issue or have any ideas?

The best advice is to be very careful - plasma TVs pack a bite. This MIGHT be a Y-Sustain problem. Or it might be something else.

A parts list is available at Electrotanya. The service manual for the chassis is also there.

The general troubleshooting process is simple. Pull the back off the set. Center bottom is the Small Signal Board (SSB).

Above the SSB is the main power supply. On the back of the panel itself is a label with various voltages listed. Va Vsc, etc. You will see bundles of heavy wires running to the Y-Sustain (to your left as you stand behind the TV) and the X / Z Sustain (to your right). Turn on the TV and check for these voltages either at the power supply or at the sustain boards - the connectors should be labeled. Again, note these voltages - 200 VDC at 2 amps will light up your life, so care is recommended.

If all voltages are present and correct, turn off the TV, unplug it, and wait 5 minutes. There should be several fuses on both the Y -Sustain and X/Z Sustain. Check them for continuity.

If any of the voltages are missing or incorrect (off by more than 10%), turn off the TV, wait 5 minutes, then unplug the wire bundle from the X/Z sustain. Plug in the TV, turn it on, and recheck. If the voltages are now correct, the X/Z Sustain was the problem.

If the voltages are still incorrect, turn the TV off, unplug it, wait 5 minutes and reconnect the wire bundle to the X/Z Sustain card. Now disconnect the wire bundle from the Y-Sustain card, hook up the power cord, turn the TV on, and recheck the voltages. If the voltages are now correct, the problem is the Y-Sustain.

If all voltages are correct, and all fuses are good, you have a problem. I suggest taking an over-all picture of the TV from the back. Somewhere on the plasma panel should be a label giving the model number of the panel - not of the TV.

Whoops!! You have the S42AX-YD02 plasma panel. Search for the service manual for that. It has a lot of information.

Voltage readings on SN8006 & SN8007 is :
Vg - 15.0V
Vscan - -187.6V
Vset - 195.4V
Vs - 199.7V
All fuses are O.k, I cant see "Vg" on the label with voltages. Also I attached two images, one of label with various voltages listed and second of connector. Please take a look at them. Thx.

If you haven't already done so, download the panel service manual. They cover troubleshooting the panel, sustain and main control card. Note: IIRC, the second manual is the prefered one. The first one is in Spanish.

One test that can be done is putting the main control card into a test mode. This eliminates the SSB and the cable from the SSB to the main control card.
