Sinotec LCD TV Model ST-42KC42F "CCFL lamps not switching on"

    Hi Guys,
It's been a while that i have been active on the forum, sorry for that. My primary job has been keeping me quite busy.
The above set starts up with sound working just fine but the CCFL lamps (Inverter) runs for one second and switches off.
My 24V supply is steady and the ON/OFF pin to the inverter is at +5V.
The only thing i see is the PWM signal pin is at +5V without any square wave being emitted. Is this normal? as far as i can remember there needs to be a square wave pulse there. Am i right?

I will now measure with my oscilloscope probe on each lamp output and compare the waveforms and send you feedback on the next thread.
I have added photos of the board layout.

I measured with my scope on the inverters outputs of the 10 lamps and got the exact same waveform. The peak voltage is 700V at 50Khz.
I also added a picture of the inverter for you to see.

Check these capacitors for capacitance and esr, also measure the resistance of the high-voltage windings for the resistance on the inverter of the transformers (the resistance should be the same for all).

Hi Lotas, all the caps check out fine. I still have to check the ballast transformers but I wanted to know if you have ever scoped the PWM input to the inverter. Mine is a permanent 5 volt. Not pulsed. Without a frequency present I wanted to know if maybe that's why the OZ964 shuts down. I even bypassed the OZ964 IC using a resistor and led diode like I saw done online but the inverter still shut down.

A common problem is poor soldering of this inverter, smd capacitors lose their resistance or the resistors in the piping of this OZxxx are open, you need to carefully check all the components and solder them.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
            by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
            by ttmi100x
            Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

            Upon closer inspection...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
            by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

Help on Samsung Syncmaster T220 dead ccfl lamp
            by mikey5791
            Hi,

This monitor previously is my main working monitor which i have been using for 8~9 years. Yesterday, when i switched on my pc from fresh to power on, the monitor is just black no display. I started dismantle to look inside the monitor power board but nothing looks suspicious or burnt. So i took my external ccfl inverter to try to power the monitor ccfl lamps which consisted of 2 lamps on upper part and 2 lamps on the lower part.

Found out the upper ccfl lamp which is supposed to connect to cn304 on the power board did not light up. Then i installed a used working...

Vizio E55-E1 bad backlights or bad inverter?
            by x_orange90_x
I just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.

I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it...
