Hello all. First time posting but long time lurker here.
First off I am not expert but I do know my way around electronics and have a fairly good grasp on troubleshooting them.
I acquired this tv for free from a neighbor who had a repair man out and diagnosed it having a shorted lcd panel.
Symptoms were that I would start up and reach the Home Screen and work for thirty or so seconds then the lcd would fade to black and enter a boot loop where it would get shorter with each attempted boot.
Went through the basic trouble shooting of disconnecting components until it would stay running and settled on the left most lcd interface strip (buffer board?)
From there I felt the components to detect heat. Found three resistors heating up and an esd diode array getting very very hot.
I broke out my meter and started to probe around and I found a leg on the diode with a direct short to ground. No ohms at all!
Ordered 6514p diode array from Digikey and very carefully removed the old and installed the new. ( short disappeared after old one removed)
Plugged it in after verifying that short no longer exists and I have a free working tv that was destined for the land fill. Well.. maybe not free I paid 1.19 for the diode. But still. I hope this helps other people and I have attached photos. Sorry I didn't record or document it better as I had little faith that it was actually going to be successful.
