I have run across this problem several times and was hoping for some insight...

In regards to lcd tv/monitor:

The tv has a bad picture ie wrong colors, rainbow like color distorsions etc but the osd and menu show up correctly. Is it wrong to assume the tcon board is good if the osd/menu show up correctly? I assume the problem lies within the main logic/display board. Is this assumption correct or could the tcon still be suspect?

I have an issue with my Majority PETERHOUSE GRADUATE Internet Radio, it keeps rebooting at the boot logo Welcome screen. Bios updated to latest version (updated via bios update utility).

Windows: no sound, all drivers installed, device manager shows "High Definition Audio Device" without any error, there is red cross on sound icon, click on troubleshooting says that probably there is an error...

mon2 kindly advised me to post a thread to ask the question(s) I'm concerned about. I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for practical courses for troubleshooting pc motherboards especially laptops in Europe, if possible in France. I have been a computer network system administrator and a corrector of administration modules for automated programs under Unix. But I really miss the practical "ops" side of troubleshooting. So I would like to start from the beginning: 1.8V, 3.3V, 5V and 19V tests for example, etc...
