    Lost PASSCODE for Vizio VP50HD

I have forgotten my PASSCODE(4 numbers) for the Vizio VP50HD model TV. The owners manual only says that if you forget, you're just out of luck. There must be a way to RESET this passcode so that certain channels can be retrieved or changes to the permissions can be updated.
What's annoying is that when Mediacom cable 'updates/changes' their channel lineup, previously 'blocked' channels may now be channels that you DO want to watch, yet they are stilled blocked.
ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO RESET THE PASSCODE?
(my other Vizio unit, a VP20HD, says that you can input a special code printed in the owners manual to override the original passcode in case you forget or lose it)

Look for a default passcode in the manual. If you know you set it yourself then try the codes you normally use. Whenever i get forced to input a code to some non trivial thing i usually just do 0000 or 1234 or similar.

Wish i could be of better help then this, maybe there is some kind of hardware reset, or maybe a restore everything to factory defaults.

In worst case you only have 9999 numbers to try, doubt they put any lockout thing in a TV?

Vizio Tv's have an extra menu that contains factory settings which you can change or fix should you have a problem with your TV.

Here's how to access the menu:

      1. Hold down the CH+ (Channel Up) and the CH- (Channel Down) buttons on the TV.

      2. While holding these buttons press the power button on the TV.

      3. After the TV comes on, let go of the buttons, and enter the TV menu as usual.

      4. You should now see a "F" in the lower right hand corner of the menu. (If not please repeat steps 1-3)

      5. Hold down the menu button on your remote for a few seconds and the Factory Settings menu should appear. From this point you can tweak whatever settings you wish.

*CAUTION* - Make sure that before you do anything you write down the settings before you change them. I have seen it mentioned that certain settings never be adjusted. Please search the internet regarding your problem before you do anything.

Don't change any settings from the R Offset / G Offset / B Offset Modes.
