    Vizio 32" Plasma question

    Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone might have any insight. I have a Vizio plasma tv that was given to me a couple of years ago and it has worked fine until one day I heard a click (Not the deadly pop). The TV went out and will not come back. On inspection I find that when I turn it on it starts to go through the startup procedure and I have 5v coming out of the power supply to the Ysus board. A few seconds later I here a second click from the power supply board and the voltage is dropped out. If I unplug the ysus board and turn on the TV, the voltage does not drop out.

I do not have any popped capacitors on either board and do not see any sign of damage to either board. Wondering if this sounds like a simple power supply problem or do I need to trash the thing. Seems to be either the Ysus board or display issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a short once something is switching in.
Is it the buffer board y or y sus main? If you can get hold of a new/second hand pcb and try it, thats the way id go.
    Are you uk based?

We need a model number please. If you can unplug the y board and the power supply doesn`t shut down You need a y board and possibly buffer board replaced. We could help you more if we knew who made the pdp for vizio. It could be l/g, samsung, or panasonic. Pictures help too.

      Goodluck!

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
        • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
        • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

I picked up this TV from Facebook Marketplace, original owner described it as "screen went black after a pop" and I hoped to see an obvious fuse or cap to replace. Doesn't seem to be the case, but my experience and electrical knowledge are kind of limited for this.

The power board (BN44-00445A, see attached) turns on and Vs and Va seem to momentarily have power, then they steadily drain to zero over a minute or two as if they're only getting power from capacitors. I've been measuring Vs and Va from the test pads, with and without the other boards connected to the power board...

        Hi everyone!
I happened several times, in the search for help from the web, to consult this very interesting forum.
So I decided to sign up and I intend to participate actively by making available my knowledge and experience on the subject, I'm a new user but at the same time I'm old in the sense that I have 4 decades of experience in repairing and designing electronics but above all I'm a great passionate about the subject.

Having said that I come to the gist of my post on the forum as the title suggests.
