I've always had an interest in electronics and I'm quite keen to learn but do not have the fundamental knowledge which I think most people in this forum possess.
The unit allegedly died with two successive loud bangs. This leads me to believe that one component failed catastrophically which cascaded into a second failure.
I included some pictures. I have already removed some components from the board either for testing purposes or because they are visibly damaged.

It seems that this unit suffered a little more damage.
The blue catalytic capacitor exploded just like in the referred thread. I was able to get a good picture of the value it seems to be 330 pF (C30). My intent is to replace this with a 2kv version.
The large blue resistor is 0.18 ohms (R52 on the board). I'm not sure if the wattage I'm thinking of going with 2W
Another .25W resistor burnt up so as to be unrecognizable (R58), leaving scorch marks on the board. Any suggestions for an appropriate value would be appreciated.
I was able to get some markings from U9 and agree that it seems to say 28600D.
In my attempts to test the transistor I had to remove it from the board and noticed that it was cracked as well. It is a 18N65 manufactured by Alpha Omega with a continuous drain of 18 amps. It seems to have been discontinued and the best I can find right now is a component with a continuous drain of 15 amps. I am tempted to replace this with https://www.digikey.com/en/products/...65S3HF/9829149 which is probably way overkill but does not make a huge price impact from a repair perspective.
There might be more unseen damage, if anybody can point me to additional components to test or any other suggestions that would be great!
