Re: HP Z200 PSU Delta DPS-320KB-1 DEAD

Visually it looked OK so I gave it a go. But now its not working as it should I will make it my next step. I don't have a cap meter so I hope the last electronic store in the surroundings can check it for me.
Can components, like diodes or resistors that I find near the TNY become bad and lead to the described behaviour?

Yes they can, I would monitor the 5VSB and see if it goes down when the computer turns off.
So you know which part of the PSU it is that turns off, remember that the standby and main PSU are like two different power supplies.
They do however depend on each other, well, the main usually depends on the standby that is.

I measured the pins on the 20 pin connector after taking it out of the PC. With the scheme of this custom build connector by HP I could find the 12V pins (gave a nice stable 12,12V and did not switch off) but I could not measure any 5V on the designated pin, was just 0,0V. A 3,3 line is not available in this connector. The 5V must have been working otherwise I could not have started up the system. Is there any explaination that the 5V was not up on the pin?

Dell 2209WA - power supply - Fusible Resistor replacement
          by jinu_j
          Hi

I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

          1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
          2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
          3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
          4. D930 - Shorted Schottkey Diode...

Need help to replace burned resistor in 350w atx psu
          by mikey5791
          Hi to all forum members,

Got this faulty 350 watt atx psu dirt cheap from a local online seller as i am keen to use it as a learning tool to repair faulty power supply.
The faulty part is quite obvious from the burn area near the 16pin KA7500 BD pwm. The fuse is still intact with good continuity.

Upon power on ac, there is 5vdc standby power on cathode of diode D14 and about 10vdc on cathode of diode D13.(This should be the aux power to generate the 12v and 5v rail.)
Initially i replace the two burned resistors near my marked red arrow to 200 ohm resistor...

Calculating ESR from tan delta -- tan delta's dependence on capacitance
          by Junkrepair
I'm finally recapping my Soyo K7VX6 motherboard (aka KT600 Dragon Ultra) and replacing Sacon SZ-series caps. The Sacon SZ datasheet provides a spec for tan delta, but not for ESR, while the candidate replacement caps are specified in terms of ESR.

I found this nice little description of the conversion:

          Calculating capacitor ESR from Tan(delta)
          https://forum.digikey.com/t/calculat...-from-tan/2633

It mentions that a general spec for tan delta has to be adjusted for the specific capacitance before plugging tan delta into the formula...

What resistor ohm will work better to repair this waterpik?
          by artvandalai
The resistor on this waterpik blew. I changed it with the a similar spec 47ohm 2 watt yageo resistor but it still keeps blowing the resistor. Checking with the multimeter the motor, capacitor, diodes, and thermal fuse all checked normal. Will a higher ohm resistor work better? What ohm resistor will work better to repair this waterpik? This video is showing the repair with a 56 ohm resistor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J7_rV7ui1Y
