Help for repairing Delta PSU (DPS-200PB-189A)

    Hi there.

Due to a mistake, while testing the termistor for variable voltage at the cooling fan with my hot air station, I've managed to make a short between the ground and the heatsink (the one where the mosfets are screwed) on a Delta PSU (DPS-200PB-189A).

As a result the R3 resistor was blown away.

After I've raised my wall fuse back and restored power outlet, the PSU no longer works.

I don't know what else is damaged, but visual inspection shows only the R3 resistor being the one with problem, so I would like to swap this first and see if I can make it work back again.

First problem is I can't properly identify it. Can anyone tell me what value it is and what is its purpose? With what resistor should I swap it?

Colors are: Brown, Black, Silver, Gold and... a White. (Not sure how to interpret this because their order is not matching basic online color code charts/calculators).

    Thanks!

Either a shunt or source resistor.

    0.1 ohm, 5% tolerance, fusible.

Need clear pix of solder side of PCB.

Also check components on that heatsink for shorts.

    EOL it...

This is back of the board.

With green circles marked where was the blown resistor.

Can I check for shorts without desoldering all those mosfets from the shorted heatsink? All components are very crammed inside, and white glue everywhere.

You should be able to check the fets in circuit, if they are shorted or don't check right, remove them and re-check them out of circuit, you might get lucky and have only blown the fuse resistor, Check the resistance between hot ground and both points where the resistor connects (hot ground is the (-) of the bridge rectifier.

Dell 2209WA - power supply - Fusible Resistor replacement
          by jinu_j
          Hi

I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

          1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
          2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
          3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
          4. D930 - Shorted Schottkey Diode...

Need help to replace burned resistor in 350w atx psu
          by mikey5791
          Hi to all forum members,

Got this faulty 350 watt atx psu dirt cheap from a local online seller as i am keen to use it as a learning tool to repair faulty power supply.
The faulty part is quite obvious from the burn area near the 16pin KA7500 BD pwm. The fuse is still intact with good continuity.

Upon power on ac, there is 5vdc standby power on cathode of diode D14 and about 10vdc on cathode of diode D13.(This should be the aux power to generate the 12v and 5v rail.)
Initially i replace the two burned resistors near my marked red arrow to 200 ohm resistor...

Calculating ESR from tan delta -- tan delta's dependence on capacitance
          by Junkrepair
I'm finally recapping my Soyo K7VX6 motherboard (aka KT600 Dragon Ultra) and replacing Sacon SZ-series caps. The Sacon SZ datasheet provides a spec for tan delta, but not for ESR, while the candidate replacement caps are specified in terms of ESR.

I found this nice little description of the conversion:

          Calculating capacitor ESR from Tan(delta)
          https://forum.digikey.com/t/calculat...-from-tan/2633

It mentions that a general spec for tan delta has to be adjusted for the specific capacitance before plugging tan delta into the formula...
