Bestec ATX250-12Z-Rev D In HP pavilion a450n. Began giving client booting issues and finally quit after power outage in area. Opened it after failing to power up and found over half of caps leaking or swollen tops. At least it didn't give the chipset or cpu 'the spike of death' this model is known. This unit was approx 3 years old and undersized for the computer as configured from factory.

Re: Bestec [worstec] in HP
As has been discussed in the "Bestec revisited" thread your HP issued Bestec appears to not have the problems or the problem reports that the eMachines issued Bestec do. The electrolytic caps near the A6351 chip are not visible in your photos? Any failures there? -

I have 3 of these in my home for over 10 years now and Im planning on replacing them as I lean towards a Philips Hue home setup.
They are great units but they lost the ability to keep/store the time and settings after power outages and brown outs.
I knew it was a battery in there somewhere but never got around to looking into it.
Well an opportunity came for me to remove this from its home in my wall so I disassembled it to see what was going on.
I found a 3.6V LIR1632 battery spot... -
by socketaI bought a dead motherboard, and connected it to this PSU,
Was checking the standby voltages on the motherboard, and, whilst doing so, the PSU made a loud bang with a flash of light.
So now i truly got a bang for my bucks, and something else to try and fix.
The fuse was blowen, and the top was blowen off of a TNY276PN chip
The glass fuse didn't have any marking to say if it was fast or slow blow
So i checked the marking on the PCB thinking that that would tell me,
but it 's got a T/F8A printed on the board
So should i get a fast blow fuse, or should... -

by ribcageA couple of years ago I got an UPS rated 1000VA 600W, with two 12V 7Ah SLA batteries in series. It ran 24/7 up until recently with a load of about 70 W. When it was new it could hold my setup for an hour or so. Not so long ago a power outage occurred and the UPS hardly lasted a few seconds. The UPS has only ever seen a handful of outages in it's life, and before this one, there probably weren't any for many months. So initially I thought the batteries must be dead, although I've read they typically last 3-5 years, so it's a little strange. I thought perhaps the batteries being at a voltage of...
