Wanted: G5 PSU with bloated capacitors.

For donation so I can study it properly and effect more clearer fix without burning out the coil or flame ups after capacitors were replaced like some people had done. That attempted rebuild burned up.

We are very interested in this for this reason.

Even a whole G5 tower with bloated caps and PSU that has bad caps would be appreciated for test bed.

Reason for this request for PSU or a whole sick G5 machine is I do not have a G5 or have not have one come to our repair shop. Also this study will beneifit badcaps community too.

    Thanks & cheers, Wizard

The iMac G5 and the G5 tower are completely different machines. The former is a consumer level machine with known PS problems. The latter is a pro machine with a pretty good track record for reliability. Testing the latter isn't going to help you fix the former.

I can provide pictures of my rebuilt iMac PS if needed. Be forewarned though, this PS is one of the most complicated I have ever seen. There are A LOT of SMT components on the underside. It ain't no $10 PS.

Odd, I saw this in lowendmac.com I'll make this more specific, thanks.

iMac G5 PSU with badcaps wanted or a donation of whole iMac G5 with problems.

Pics will not do, as I need to go into UNTOUCHED bad iMac G5 PSU and analyse PSU design, measure all the PSU's electrolytic capacitors with my ESR meter. And inspect the computer if donated whole (can have no memory and no hard drive.) The idea is to prevent the repeats and hammer the suppliers with cries of why "caps didn't fix mine?"

      Cheers, Wizard

iMac A1418 - No LED, no power after overvoltage on Ethernet port
        by ryogadan78
Hi guys, I need your help again.
I have this iMac from a customer that shut down during a storm along with all the other devices in the house. In particular, the router, connected via Ethernet to the iMac, caught fire.
When I removed the screen from the iMac to check the status of the LEDs, I noticed that none of them were lit. I had a perfectly compatible and working power supply, so I tried it right away, but the problem remained the same (no LEDs). With the thermal camera, I noticed only a slight warming (32 degrees) of the NCP1605BG chip on the power supply. The rest was completely...

        iMac M1 DFU restore issue
        by Stephen
iMac turns on no drops no cracks, tried to DFU Restore the iMac, logo turns on great! however iMac turns itself off and then restarts to the (!) icon and won't post the restore. Tried thunderbolt 3 cable, tried regular USB C cable and nothing.

this is the message it gives me with the error

Unexpected device state 'DFU' expected 'RestoreOS' (Probably forced into DFU mode externally) [com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore – 0xFAE (4014)].

Any thoughts what this could be? I will open it up and repair it but I am not 100% sure since this iMac doesn't...

        by slybunda
hey all, iv got my favourite battery charger here which iv had for many years probably 15 years now or maybe even more. it still works good but thought id open it up to clean the dust out of it, lots of dust inside but now its clean and noticed 4 capacitors inside it and wondered if i should replace them.
        it has inside:
        2 x 47uf 16v caps 105c branded as Su'scon (lol sounds sus to me)
        2 x 470uf 16v LZ105c branded as G.Luxon

not heard of these brands are they any good?

iv attached photos of the charger and the board inside for an idea on the type of...

        iMac 27” 2020 Boot issue
        by Stephen
Customer came in for data recovery, came to find out data is soldered on to this iMac (learn something new everyday) this is a 2020 T2 iMac so I was surprised because the iMac Pro has a T2 chip and it isn’t soldered on. Anyways, the iMac boots to Apple logo and then restarts, before it turns off you hear a quarter fan spin then it repeats itself. I decided to do a DFU revive to restore any hardware firmware issues and it was successful in reviving the device however the issue persists in boot looping. It shows the Apple logo for like 40 seconds then turns off and fan spin rinse repeat. I...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
        by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

        After all of...
