been there,
open it, shake out any water and use a fan heater or hair dryer to bake it dry.
then treat it as faulty and give it a very close inspection before connecting it.Leave a comment:

Say you got a free PSU from outside... and it was raining
I didn't get one, but suppose you did. What is your approach?
The general consensus that I have seen is that it should be thrown out and one shouldn't bother.
But let's say that there is no residual charge in the PSU (that's a big if), and it hasn't really be out there that long. What would you do?Tags: None

by DJbapt59Hello everyone,
I recently picked up a laptop that was about to be thrown away to try to repair it. I've tested quite a few things, but I don't know where to look anymore. Could you please help me?
Brand: Asus Vivobook
Motherboard reference: x421da, Rev 2
Context:
The person who gave it to me mentioned it might have been exposed to water, but they weren't sure. After opening it up, I couldn't find any signs of water damage or oxidation on the motherboard.
The first thing I did was to connect the PC to a power supply: 19V stable and... -
by ygorsanHi everyone,
Iām looking for help with a persistent issue on an LG TV model 55NANO77SRA, which uses the main board EBU66792103 (also used in LG UQ80 and NANO75/NANO80 series).
š§© Problem Summary:- The TV keeps scrolling through the menu or selecting items by itself.
- I removed the physical button board (the entire panel with power and volume buttons) and also disconnected the flat cable (CN202) from the main board.
- The remote control is not in use (batteries removed), and the TV still shows the same behavior.

by abajorI had a customer call me with an M4 A3401 her daughter spilled a gatorade into, and didn't tell her mom for about 2 hours.
I had her bring it in immediately so we could disconnect the battery and I could dismantle it so I could swab the board with Isopropyl an dry with a heat gun.
There was already some green copper corrosion when I opened it.
I did a good first pass and dried off the board, now I'm going over it with my scope swabbing and poking at any oxides with my exacto tip.
I brought out my hot air tool to evaporate the iso and caramelized sugars started bubbling... -
by Joe24Patient is a Maytag/Whirlpool/Kenmore clothes dryer. Not sure of exact model, doesn't matter. All boards are out of production.
Specific problem is a Maytag 8544799 / WP8544799 motor-control board, aka Diehl Controls 708879-05. Customer states the board "doesn't work, motor doesn't run". Not sure how the repairman made that assessment, or if it's even accurate. He can't get replacement boards, and the owner decided to buy a new dryer, so whether this board is the problem is speculation on his part. Again, doesn't matter.
I've been over the board looking for... - Loading...
