Need help identifying transformer

Hello,

I have a soldering re-working station ... an Amazon - el-cheapo - heres a pic:



and the transformer suddenly decided to go into melt down mode (literally let the smoke out of the transformer) ...





Unfortunately, all of the print on the transformer is in Chinese:



Just for giggles, I decided to throw a volt meter on it to see what I'm getting on each of the three taps when 120 is applied to the main (the taps with the highest resistance), and I think the meltdown did it in, because the readings I got were as follows:

Yellow leads: .7 Vac
Red leads: .8 Vac
Black leads: .4Vac

Obviously these couldn't be the proper voltages as they would hardly operate a re-working station.

Can someone please help me identify this transformer so I get purchase a replacement?

Here is what I would do on the top of transformer where the secondary winding are carefully take off the yellow tape until you see the wire you may find a thermal fuse in there or in the primary winding there maybe on it that you can by pass it to see if it still works if it dose there are some thing you can do

Check the secondary winding with an ohmmeter and see if it has any reading at all on any wire if so then go head and try what I was talking about earlier

The chinese writing are not that important; the first row means "Approved" while second row says the input/Tested at 110V and the last row is production date which is November 2015.

You should follow sam_(x3) advice : try carefully peel off the yellow tape and see if you can find a thermal fuse, if it is burnt you might as well replace an equivalent type or else buy a new replacement transformer. Good luck then.

bet you have a short on one of the secondaries.
thermal fuse may have caught it in time.
you might be able to bypass fuse for a TEST ONLY and run it disconnected.if it gets hot its toast pardon the pun.
look for shorted diodes,ect.seen bad heaters do this in cheap stations too.
fuse is in the primary side.bottom section.

I have seen a few transformers do the with no load on them with in a few minutes it would get so hot that you could not touch it if this is the case do NOT use it any more

When I plug it in, it starts to smoke within a few seconds.

Thank you ... the cost of the transformer with shipping is almost as much as buying a new unit... ill keep looking around and see what I can find. If I can get the output voltages, I might have one laying around that will work.

Henry Ford would be proud of them. Sell the unit at a cheap price and make your money off of parts.

i have not seen those fail before.

as i cant see any of the damned pictures because they arent uploaded to the forum, give me the station model number.

maybe it can be bodged with a 24v toroid.

Here, I think I got them uploaded now...
