Re: Troubleshooting B&W Original Powersupply
Thanks for your help and prompt reply.
I should find a place to test them since I don't have the meter.
When i looked closer it doesn't seem to me that they are burnt, maybe it was the photo.
PFA a better photo

Re: Troubleshooting B&W Original Powersupply
Hello,
I came across this forum and it seems it the only good help on the net. I had the same issues and I decided to follow the instruction to open my speaker, but when I reached PSU it doesn't look evident to me. Maybe the yellow one?
I appreciated it if someone could help.

Re: Troubleshooting B&W Original Powersupply
Hi again,
I took the opportunity to replace all 6 caps with Panasonic FR types and paid princely sum of £12, it took no more than an hour to repair. It's now working again and sounds great, for a freebie I cant complain. Just need a blue tooth dongle and add some new fabric over the speaker grills to make it mint again.
I am a little gutted as my son has pinched it for his room.Leave a comment:

Re: Troubleshooting B&W Original Powersupply
Hi all,
Picked up a B&W Zeppelin for free last night and was told it had stopped working although it lights up but shows the red flashing LED. After following the guide I found the 47uF 400v and 2200uF 16v caps swollen, ordered up a full set of Panasonic FR caps for £12 and going to see if I can get it going.
I'll keep you posted on whether its operational at the end of the next week.
Thanks for your write ups and advice, most helpful.Leave a comment:

Re: Troubleshooting B&W Original Powersupply
Good thread. Very grateful to find this. I've got an original B&W zeppelin with the red flashing light problem. it went back to B&W once in ~2014 for a free fix under warranty. But the problem has resurfaced. Maybe bad/cheap components? or maybe a poor design. I don't know. it you look on ebay there are dozens of broken Zeppelin listed.
If anyone else follows this path. As of emails I has with B&W in Feb 2020 they no longer offer support for the original Zeppelin. (previously there was a £80 B&W repair service as i understand).
So its a DIY fix or the Zeppelin goes in the bin.
When it works the sound from the Zeppelin is FANTASTIC. So I've ordered some capacitors and solder and will give the fix a try and hope my soldering skills are up to the job.Leave a comment:

Re: Troubleshooting B&W Original Powersupply
Great thread! I'm also repairing my Zeppelin and in my case the Rubycon 2200uf 16V capacitor was bulging and the T-fuse had popped.
And the white silicone whatever will be replaced!Leave a comment:

Re: Troubleshooting B&W Original Powersupply
Wow! Using this thread and the iFixit guides https://www.ifixit.com/Wiki/How_to_R...f_the_Zeppelin and https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/How+to+...Zeppelin/55158, I was able to replace the 2200uf 16V and 470uF 16V Samxon caps (whose tops were inflated and didn't test out) with Panasonic FRs from Mouser and it is working. I had a lot of trouble desoldering the caps and in the process destroyed the solder pads, so I didn't think I was able to solder the new ones in well, but I put it back together and the Zeppelin is working so I must have managed it! I have not been able to get the covers back on completely... For anyone else who tries this, be careful to desolder without destroying the solder pad (wick worked better for me than pump) and make sure you note the polarity and the stripe on the cap so that you get the new one in correctly. If anyone has any advice on how to get the covers to snap into place, I'd appreciate it. Thanks to all (Delirious, sti, Khron, Capleaker, budm, phil - all of whom posted helpful info).Leave a comment:

Would it be wise to replace the two 47 uF 400 VDC capacitors on the AC side as well?
Budm: Well I guess I got quite lucky compared to you.Leave a comment:

Re: Troubleshooting B&W Original Powersupply
i just wonder if it matters because they used all different types.
if it's not important then i would just stuff it full of panasonic FR series.Leave a comment:

by CapacitorialHello guys,
I have a Philips 240B7QPJEB. The monitor seems completely dead.
I opened it and measured the voltages of the powersupply. I found that a mosfet was dead and replaced it.
On the connector, that goes to the TCON board, all voltages 15-19V and 5V are present.
The small connector on the left of the PSU has two cables with 18V and all the other have 0.2V. It connects on this small connector on the left ontop of the panel. I guess the backlight? Seens fine I guess.
The weird thing is, that the Power LED is powered over the TCON board.
On The TCON...-
