Re: HP Z24i monitor: caps replaced, monitor still dead
Thanks for your reply PeteS. Unfortunately I messed up and managed to short the capacitor on the power board (yes the one on the primary side..) The result was a destroyed conductive track,. I can only blame myself for this and had I tried to keep a cleaner work bench this probably would not happen.
I am afraid that the result might be that I will have to bin it. The only way to save the monitor now is to get a new power board, but I am not sure if this is really possible. Only good thing to come of this...

HP Z24i monitor: caps replaced, monitor still dead
Hi,
I got an HP Z24i from work some time ago which was completely dead. I decided to replace the caps on the power board/psu and replaced all off them except the one on the primary(?) side. All caps replaced were Panasonic fr or fc. It still will not power on at all it seemed. After it did not work I decided to try and reflow some of the solder joints with mixed results. I also found another large cap from another power supply and replaced the one on this power board.
Unfortunately I have little experience and knowledge about electronic repair so I feel like I...Last edited by Delirious; 06-28-2017, 02:51 PM.

Re: Xytronic LF-389D capacitor quality
I got it for about 45 pounds at Elfa Distrelec some time ago. So I thought the price was pretty good.
Were you planning on buying it?...Last edited by Delirious; 09-02-2016, 05:46 PM.

Xytronic LF-389D capacitor quality
Hello!
Some time ago I got myself a new soldering station as I was planning to start doing some more soldering. This soldering station is mains powered so it is not comparable to other larger soldering station. I have not really been using it much, but I read that the Xytronic stations might have bad caps so i decided to open it up.
So as far as I can see there are only 2 caps:
VLSOM 470 uF 25V
STONE 100 uF 25V
So the question is if I should replace them with something better? If so what would you recommend? I can get Rubycon and...Last edited by Delirious; 09-02-2016, 05:42 PM.

Re: Troubleshooting B&W Original Powersupply
Thanks!
So are you saying I should use lets say Rubycon ZLH for all the caps I replace?
The reason I asked about the silicon grease was because I managed to remove quite a bit off it when removing and handling the board. Should I maybe add more?
Any point in replacing the Panasonic caps?

Hello!

Re: Troubleshooting B&W Original Powersupply
Thank you all. This is really good to know. I guess it is worth it to replace the capacitors. How confident can I be that the capacitors are the problem here?
Capacitors:
Top right (bulged) - Rubycon ZLH 2200 uF 16 VDC
Middle one left - Rubycon XYG 470 uF 16 VDC
Middle one right - Rubycon ZLH 220 uF 35 VDC
Bottom right - Rubycon ZL 1000 uF 35 VDC
Is new Rubycon caps a good replacement? They are easily available for me. Panasonic is also possible I think.

Troubleshooting B&W Original Powersupply
Hello all,
I just registered on this forum and hope that someone might be able to help me. I am trying to repair an older B&W Zeppelin for my parents. The status light is blinking red which according to B&W means that it need a repair. I searched a little bit around the internet and the power supply of this product seems to be a common problem.
I decided to open it up and take out the power supply. The first thing I noticed was that all the caps seems to be of good quality. Rubycon on the dc side and Panasonic on the ac side. (Excuse my terminology...Last edited by Delirious; 09-02-2016, 05:29 AM.
