    psu problem ?

There are some strange issues with my fsp epsilon 600w psu which is about a year old. Pc is running almost 24/7.
When pc is turned on, it runs for a few seconds, then turns off and then back on again after 2-3sec and then runs without problems. (this doesn't happen if pc is left off for a while)
Psu sometimes emits a strange "beep" when powered up.
    The system is: a Intel q6600(b3), overclocked 8800GTX, 6gb ram, 3 hdds, dvd-rw.
Is this a sign of a problem ? Or I have nothing to worry about ?

    Re: psu problem ?

I'm going to guess you have a P35 chipset... correct?

Anyway, set the front side bus back to stock and see if it still does it. I'm going out on a limb here and saying it's the infamous P35 "double boot" problem. I don't know if other chipsets are / were affected by that or not. Probably nothing wrong with the PSU.

If you really want to check for bad capacitors, it's not hard. First, unplug the PSU!!! There should be 4 screws holding the cover on the PSU. Take those out, and carefully pull the cover off. If you see any capacitors that are bulging on the top, or are leaking at the bottom, take a picture and post it, and we can assist from there. Otherwise, put the cover back on.

You might also use a multimeter and check voltages on the various rails when loaded and unloaded.

      Re: psu problem ?

Yeah. A MSI P35 Neo mobo. I oc'ed the cpu a bit (to 2.6Ghz), but I had the very same issue with fsb running at stock speed.
PSU is still under warranty, I don't think it's a good idea to open it.
But why does psu "beep" sometimes ? could this be related to caps ?

        Re: psu problem ?

I doubt it's related to caps. Honestly, I've never heard a PSU "beep". I've heard motherboards beep at POST, as most of them do, and I'm sure you know all about that. I've even had some motherboards that beep twice on a normal POST, with different tones! But a PSU? You got me there. I think any cap noise would be more of a "pop" and only occur once per cap.

If it's one with the overhead 120mm fan, you can usually look down through it at the right angle and see most of the caps.

So many people were / are affected by the P35 double boot issue that I would be very surprised if that's not what it is. From research on the internet, those MSI Neo boards are notorious for double booting. I have a friend with a Biostar TP35D2-A7 (same board as I've got) with a E2180. His will double boot with the FSB set to 400MHz, but set it lower and it's fine. That's why I suggested you set it lower.

Try upgrading your bios to the latest version. If you still think it's the PSU, swap it out and see if it still does it. It really doesn't hurt anything, it's just annoying.

          i have a problem with thinkpad X1 carbon gen 2 "LMQ-1MB 12298-2 48.4LY26.021"
The laptop was turned off because the MOSFET was not transmitting voltage. After checking it turned out that the gate pin on the MOSFET was the problem, because it was producing an inappropriate voltage. and it was discovered that the problem was with the Think engine, so I decided to reprint each pin, and finally the mosfet could work properly. However, there is another problem, even though the voltage has been supplied to the laptop, it still won't turn on, there isn't even an LED indicator. After double...

          Lenovo T580 - LCD Panel problem - error 0288
          by perzyk23
          Good morning,
I have a problem with Lenovo T580, which after error code 0288 suggests a problem with the display. I checked the display and it works on another laptop. I replaced the display cable with a new one. I programmed another BIOS (downloaded from this forum) and I still have the problem of a dead display - there is an image via HDMI, and the system does not detect the built-in LCD at all. The problem appears to be hardware. What can I check to confirm or disprove this? I found many threads on the Internet related to this problem 0288, but without specific solutions. Please advise....

          Dell 15R-5521 keyboard problem (KBC?)
          by SDNarcia
Hello, I have a Dell 15R-5521, with the problem that the Ctrl, Alt, Shitf and Num Lock keys do not work, I tested the keyboard with a keyboard tester and it is functional, I also got another new keyboard and the computer has the same problem with the same keys. Check continuity between the ZIF connector from the keyboard to the KBC and all pins are correct. I cleaned the ZIF connector and the KBC and I still have the same problem. I reinstalled windows just in case, and it didn't work. I updated the BIOS to the latest version A16 and there were no changes.

          As additional information,...

          Lenovo E15 Gen 2 GE4B0 GE5B0 NM-D011 Rev 1.0 sometimes not opening problem
          by s_specialist
Recently, I have started to encounter a problem with Lenovo E15 Gen 2 models not opening. When you try to open the device, it gives a warning sound and does not display an image, when you apply light pressure on the keyboard, the image appears and works for a while, when you turn it off and on, the same thing happens again. Bios was tried, RAM slots were cleaned and soldered to the legs, the problem still persists. There seems to be a problem with the onboard processors, but since Lenovos glue the processor firmly from the sides, the paths are very damaged when removing it. Has anyone encountered...
