I'm talking about connectors you can easily screw in or use test leads with.

4mm shrouded jacks - like on meters?

some of those are rated 1000v and upto 32A

It's pretty difficult to find ones that will allow wires to be mated to easily. Anyway, this is a project that will be done after 50 others on the list.

What I really want is something like this unit with these kinds of jacks on it:

They'll handle it fine for most cases, but you don't want the exposed conductors anyway when you're dealing with anything around that kind of range. This comes down to insulation ratings in the plastic and the design with the exposed conductors which electronic loads don't generally have.

The other issue - is handling both extremes of high voltage and high current. You can get 400V rated MOSFETs cheap, but on resistance is pretty bad - like 0.1 ohms is the minimum for anything cheaper than "silly price". And if you want say 30A full load current, you're going to get a load of voltage drop across just one FET. So you need many in parallel. And this increases gate capacitance and control loop design complexity considerably.

those are shrouded and rated for 250v

That's still within +-20 %. Most even new large-can caps I've ever measured with ESR Micro or UNI-T UT210E always showed lower capacity. No reason to call them fake right away. Usually only Rubycon caps measure close to full.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, Can we use SMPS Bench Power Supply for Laptop troubleshooting?
                  by shamsudeen
Hi all, I just need to know that, can i use SMPS type power supply to test and short circuit detection on a laptop motherboard?
I saw 95% of repair guys are using only Linear bench power supply. linear bench power supply is pricy, thats why i planned to get one SMPS supply.

i know that in linear power supply the noise will be very low comparing to SMPS supply....

Onkyo HT-R390 no sound output, video output ok
                  by FrancescoV
                  Good morning everyone,
I'm trying to repair an onkyo ht-r390 that has no sound output, despite the volume being at maximum, the rest seems to work; the video output signal (coming from an hdmi input) is present, but the audio is absent. Similar situation if I send an audio signal from any input I have no output.

The firmware reported is the following:
                  M:1.00/11107BLP
                  D:?.??/????????
                  O:1.00/11107AL

The DSP firmware given the question marks seems corrupt.

On the BCHDM-0678 - 25140678 - QPWBCHDM0678A0 board the chip that usually seems...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
                  by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...
