Hi,
I got this older Fortron Hexa 500 PSU pretty cheap, it seemed to be a good unit from a reputable manufacturer. My joy was quickly curbed after discovering that it is filled with CrapXon caps. Even the primary cap is a strange looking 270uf / 420v beast @ 85 deg. C. Everything looks OK, except for that primary cap which looks a tiny bit bulged.
I have decided to recap it completely since I hate the guts of Capxon and otherwise the unit looks pretty solid. The only thing is that here I could only find the following higher quality capacitors:
- Nichicon LGU2W271MELC (LGU series, CAP ALUM 270UF 20% 450V SNAP)
- ELITE PL2W471MND3551 (PL series, 470uF; 450V; Ø35x51mm; ±20%; 2000h)
- Samwha CE-330/450SNP (unknown series, 330uF; 450V; Ø34x45mm; Pitch:10mm)
Which one should I choose for the primary? Price wise, Nichicon is more affordable than the others.
Thank you
