    Bad PSU - Maybe Short

Hello guys.. Today i was mounting my Computer.. And by mistake or distraction i placed one Cable Wrong in the Motherboard... After Few Seconds i hear one " Boom" lol and start smelling burn ...

Tryed again, and then i saw the mistake and fix it... But now the problem is, every time i turn one the PSU, seems to have one Short because my Home electricity goes down... So i think is something about one Short or something?

After opening the Power Supply i saw some kinda of Blue ?Capacitors?, one of them looks like damaged...

Turn on the Power Supply again it's impossible... If i try again i thing i will burn my House lol..

So please, where i can start? Or what i should do? I know just welding.. Not mutch more than that...

Sorry about my English, hope you can help me on this. Here some Pics:

The PSU is one Corsair TX850w

You need to check all transistors and diodes for shorts.
Which cables did you swap exactly?
Normally I would have expected a PSU like this to trip into safety mode but guess it did not...
Start by just checking the bridge rectifier for a dead short.
Btw, the soldering on the the back of the PSU looks like crap, several cold joints.
"The one who says it cannot be done should never interrupt the one who is doing it."

Do you know the Speaker from the Box? Ok, i was thinking i was placing the cable from it on the Mobo, but it seems was another thing from the Box... There is 2 cables almost identicals.. So i place the mistaken one.. And all the thing start in the Mobo.. Luckly the mobo not Burn...

But yeah, now you are talking about the safe mode.. rly.. It's stupid... This should enter into Safe mode..

What i know is, if i plug on the Power Supply, seems almost like joining two wires of electricity ... you know what i mean?

And one transsistor or Diode it has the ability to cause a symptom like this? The Power Supple is on Short i'm sure of that..

** It's the first time i'm opening this Power Supply, so everything you see is from Corsair

You need to replace those blue capacitors , it won't work without them! I would replace both of them.

You need to look on the caps for the value , probably 33KV or something like that. They are called ceramic capacitors. Try to replace those first and see what happens.

Looking on the back of the board there is a lot of damage , are the traces still intact?

          Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Extreme High Current & Low Voltage Short Killer ??
          by DynaxSC
          Hi Folks

I'm looking for a extreme high current short killer solution for a reasonable cost.

I have an LGA1700 motherboard (ASUS PRIME Z790-P WiFi) where I exchanged the LGA socket already 3 times, and every time after the socket exchange I get a short of power supply lines VCORE (V variable) and VCCIN_AUX (1.8V).
After taking off the socket, the shorts dissappear again.
The soldermask on the socket is already partially demaged from the heat, so I have reconstructed the soldermask by manually painting the missing soldermask parts with a very small top of a...

MacBook Pro 14" A2442 Short on PPBUS_AON but no short present when injecting voltage!
          by Stephen
I check PPBUS_AON and there is a short present on the line, the computer shows a short when testing for short to ground, so when I inject voltage into the line, I get 0AMPS so no short is showing up. I have replaced a blown cap on this board that exploded and tested for the short and it is now removed. Any suggestions? I tested voltage at the line when the fuses are connected and I am getting 1.2 Volts at the line.

HP Victus 15-fb dag3pamb8d0 Short on VCORE – How to Confirm CPU Fault?
          by adelfr2009
I have a laptop HP Victus 15-fb with motherboard DAG3PRMB8D0, CPU Ryzen 7535HS, and GPU RTX 2050. The laptop has a power issue: it does not turn on at all, and there is no light on the DC jack.
After inspection, I found that an NMOS near the charger input had a short. I replaced it, but the short remained on the 19V line. I checked the charging circuit and it was fine, but the short appears after the current sense resistor near the charger. The charger does not pass current when connected, so I inject 3V–4V after the sense resistor. No component gets hot, except the CPU which becomes...

Acer Nitro 5 LA-L181p power LED turns on by 5 secs (Short on PCH rail?)
          by Victor Moreira Silva
          Hello everyone,

I'm trying to repair my old Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-54-55T5). I've already bought a new laptop, so this is more of a learning project. For the experience, with no high expectations of success.

Well, my decice specs are the following:

          Model: Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-55T5
          CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H
          GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
          Motherboard: GH51G LA-L181P Rev:1c

          The symptom:
When pressing the power button, the power LED lights up for about 5 seconds and then turns off. Initially, the issue was intermittent: sometimes...
