    Smoke from amacrox ax400-s

Yesterday my friend give me a psu, and he said it's broken.
    amacrox type ax400-s. oem fsp.

so i try to fix it.

first i connect this psu with light bulb method, and i found the 100w lamp is turn on so bright. of couse, there's short in primary section.

so i open it, and replace the apfc mosfet (rated 13n50) with my spare components (18n50).
checking surround components, and there's no short.

then i check again with my bulb lamp..still turn on so bright...

after a few inspection, i've decide to replace the apfc module xxx-60GLY with cm6800g, got it from another working fsp psu.

okay, right now everything is okay, the light bulb not turn on..
    but wtf, there's smokes...

it came from around dash 2 b-5 transformer..
Okay, then i replace it again with same transformer from working psu..

still smokes came around that area..(circle area in my picture)

checking components and there's no short..

    any ideas..?

    Re: Smoke from amacrox ax400-s

Check all diodes which are in the areas you have circled.
And the 5VSB controller chip (DM311?) itself.
The big bulk capacitor looks suspect too.

Also this PSU looks similar or identical to the FSPXXX-60GLN series.
So have a look at this thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=37356

I agree with Per - that big CapXon cap on the primary is not to be trusted, especially with APFC duty. If you want to leave it in there for now, then disable the APFC (i.e. remove APFC MOSFET or disconnect its gate from CM6800 IC and pull MOSFET gate to ground). Then see if 5 VSB comes up. If you still see smoke from the same area, the 5 VSB PWM-FET IC might be gone, along with other components around it.

        @Per Hansson and momoka

        Thanks for response.
i've already check all components in circle area and there's no short.
(smd zener, smd transistor, smd diode, and smd caps)
Well, at least with my analogue multimeter there's no short.

        5vsb controller using dm0865r.
okay, i'll try to replace the bulk caps & do like mr. momaka suggest..

TOSHIBA DLP 52HM95 How to reset timer module on bulb
          by repair-it
I replaced the bulb only on my Toshiba DLP The bulb is a TB-25. This is the first time I've done a bulb only replacement. Supposedly there is a timer module that needs to be re-calibrated or reset. I don't know where the module is located. I see some vendors selling the bulb with the housing stating module included which leads me to think the module is located inside the enclosure the bulb mounts in, but I didn't see it. Maybe it's inside the plug attached to the bulb?

Anyway - I am seeking information on how to reset this so called module so that the lamp will operate. Apparently...

          LUMIMAN Smart Bulb IC ID?
          by ezenia
          Hi,

I have a LUMIMAN Smart Bulb that suddenly stopped lighting one day. The bulb is still detected in the app, but won't light. I've probed around and nothing seems to look off with any of the diodes, caps or resistors. The Bluetooth/Wi-Fi module seems to be working as it's still detected in the app. I even tried deleting and re-pairing the bulb (it didn't light, but I was still able to follow the pairing instructions), it re-paired fine, but still no light.

In diode mode, the LEDs all light up when probed so I'm guessing this means the LEDs themselves are OK. I was expecting...

This person's fault was exactly the same as mine, even down to the power strip and with the muffled popping sound.
I suspect that my problem started with an old power strip, of which a computer and a 2000W heater were plugged into...
I noticed melting and heat where the heater was plugged in, so i plugged the heater directly into a double wall socket, but still noticed the muffled pop sound when i turned on the computer, and...

Replacing incandescent bulb on Pioneer LD player with led. Need help :)
          by JimBanville
I have a pioneer dvl-909 LD/dvd player from 1998. It has a light on the front panel that lights up when you play a dvd. I removed the bulb and it appears to be a tiny incandescent bulb. Its measures "open"/dead and the bulb is black like it's blown. The socket it fits into measures 5v. I've looked up the schematics and there's no indication of the amperage. I don't want to spend any money on new parts, but I have a pack of like 100, 3v, 20ma LEDs and I have various resistors.
Is there a way for me to determine the amperage going to the old dead bulb with my multimeter?

          Macintosh Quadra 840AV PSU
          by nicktasios
I had my Quadra 840AV (which I recapped and had working) plugged in for some time without using it and randomly decided to turn it on today. Unfortunately it did not turn on. After checking the PSU, I found out I was not getting anything from 12V, only from the 5V rail. After a few minutes, I removed the PSU and plugged it back in the electrical outlet and it suddenly started making a weird sound and soon after smoke started coming out. I quickly unplugged it. I opened it up but on first instance I didn't see anything out of the ordinary really. I later turned it back on and one of the MOVs blew...
