Hello again, long time no troll
I picked up this LiteON 400W OEM PSU from a PC recycling shop for not much (I don't remember how much exactly, but it wasn't very much), took it home and tested it with an old Skt370 junk M/B I had lying around. It turned on fine but the fan sounded a bit noisy, so I was going to open the unit up to oil the bearings. And when I popped the case open, I discovered a blown 16v 1200uf TAICON HD on the secondary circuit.
GRRRRRR!
Anyway, I looked up the Taicon HD, it is equivalent to Chemi-Con's KZE and (somewhat) to Sanyo's ME-WX. However, I don't have any of those caps, but I do have access to some Rubycon MBZ 1200uf 16v, which seem to have better ESR (50% lower it seems) and comparable ripple current, but they're only rated at 2000 hrs @ 105c, whereas the HD are 5000hrs @ 105c.
So the answer is, would it be possible for me to use these MBZ as long as I keep the PSU really cool? (I do plan on powering a Prescott P4 with this PSU.)
Thanks for any help,
Aaron
