Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 430W schematics?

    Hello everybody,

yesterday one of my PSUs, a Be Quiet Dark Power Pro, died with a loud bang.

A closer inspection yielded the following results:

The primary high voltage capacitor (220uF, 400V) made by "SAMSON" had lost it`s capacity.

One of the power MOSFETs had exploded.

A SMD resistor near the Transistor is damaged, two SMD diodes have Shorts.

In the secondary section a 2200uF 10V made by "SamXon" is bulged and there´s only 26uF left.
The other electrolytics in the secondary section are made by "TK". They show an average of 20% capacity loss but are not bulged.

It would be no Problem to replace the capacitors, the MOSFETs are still available from some distributors, BUT I don´t know the value of R333 and the type of D301 and D302.

Does anyone here have a diagram or any other possibility to find this out? Any help would be appreciated!

I'd throw it in the trash as it's a Topower made Group regulated PSU.
IMO not worth saving because the Plattform isn't good.

And, as you may guess (or not), it's based on Topowers P6 Plattform...

This is more a Proof of Concept kind of thing.
Of course this is a platform that´s technically obsolete for current platforms and economically it´s pure nonsense repairing it but it could be used for a couple of years longer on an older platform when repaired and recapped properly.
It was used in an Intel dual Sossaman machine so far that has been up and running with this PSU for about 7 years without any issues.

Re: Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 430W schematics?

I still haven´t given up on this PSU yet.
Of course it´s design does not meet the demands of today´s systems, but it´s powering a system from 2005 with just a couple of 3.5" drives and two dual core Xeons with 30W each and onboard ATI ES1000 graphics.

I found out the values of the parts mentioned in my first post however:

                  1. "stj" was absolutely right - R322 (22R) is burned also
                  2. R333 is 10R
                  3. D301 and D302 are general purpose diodes (LL4148)
                  4. Q302 is stamped "BA" which is BCW61A
                  5. D303 and D304 have shorts (1N4004)
                  6. D0 has a short (1N4148)
                  7. ZD302 has a short (C55 16V)
                  8. Q301 (Power MOSFET) is a IRFP450A
                  9. R301 is burned (10R)

There doesn´t seem to be a problem in the secondary section except for the mentioned CapXons (NOT SamXon as I wrote in my first post).
The remaining capacitors for the 5V and 12V rails (2200µ and 3300µ) are all "TK", not what you call a top quality brand but capacity and ESR are still perfect.
TK (Toshin Kogyo) is a company based in Japan but I read somewhere they´are merely selling rebranded capacitors made by OST (Taiwan).
I wouldn´t mind replacing the TKs but I couldn´t by any means find Low ESR 105° 3300uF 10V with a diameter of 10mm from Rubycon, Nichicon or Panasonic. They are all 12.5mm and wouldn´t fit here.
Does anyone here at Badcaps know a supplier?

So I replaced all the components plus all the electrolytics in the primary section and I´m waiting for the equivalent for BCW61A, a BCX71 to arrive today.

What´s going to happen, when I plug the PSU in for the first time? We will see...

What I do have in stock are Panasonic FK 3300uF 6.3V

Would they be o.k. for the 3,3V rail or even for the 5V rail instead of the 10V TK?

                        I use Panasonic FR 3300uF 6.3V 10mm diameter for 5V and 3.3V output.

Panasonic FK 6.3V 3300uF 10mm are great caps for psu 5V and 3.3V filtering too.

I replaced the 3300µ in the 3.3V rail by a 6.3V FK and left the TKs in the 5V rail untouched at the moment for a first test of the PSU.

It wouldn´t start up and further examination showed that there are no signals at the gate-drivers of the PFC- and PWM-MOSFETs.
It turned out that the control-circuit, a CM6800G has a short (8 Ohms) between it´s Vcc input (pin13) and ground (pin10) so I have to replace this circuit first.
                          The story continues...

So, after replacing the defective SMD components and transistors, all electrolytic capacitors, the CM6800G and fitting everything back in it´s metal housing the PSU is working properly again.
Under load it´s remaining very cool and quiet so repairing it is a full success from the technician´s point of view.
Putting the costs of the replacement parts in relation to the price for a new PSU tells us it´s not worth it.
                            But it was fun.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                              Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
