Re: Your spare PSU Stash
I've got a couple of boxes of PSUs like that. Need go through and weed out the good ones and test them. The crappy ones I am keeping for spare parts and projects.

Re: Your spare PSU Stash
I decided to only keep units with active PFC, as many of the "old-school" designs (TL494, two primary push-pull switchers with a pair of 200/250V primary electrolytics) are not worth anything to me (other than parts).Leave a comment:

Re: Your spare PSU Stash
This thread rocks! Look at all those PSU's
I have way too many...Either to have on hand, waiting to sell, or just laying around because I recapped itI also have a parts pile as you can see. I really need to get organized. This doesn't even count the ones I have at home

It's been recapped. I don't review stuff which I've repaired. I did put it on the tester, though, and it does the full 400W well and truly in spec.Leave a comment:

Re: Your spare PSU Stash
I don't have much of a spare pine, currently I have a gutless wonder raidmax 380 and a recapped/repaired Antec SP400 in my spare bin. I have a few other ATX PSUs lying around somewhere, possibly in an unused computer if I need to swipe one from somewhere.
I still haven't figured out what's wrong with this antec truepower trio 650 and it's sitting half disassembled... I really should put it back together again while it's on the backburner...Leave a comment:

Your spare PSU Stash
Given the number of PSUs that get recapped, repaired and shown off here, I'm sure a few of us must have a bit of a stash of them. Here's what I've collected thus far (and still am yet to sell off):
From top to bottom (Left "Column"): Lite-on 300W, Codegen "550W" (more like 300W), NMB 430W
Middle "Column" Enlight/Delta GPS-300AB, Antec SL-350 (recapped), Dell H305P-00 (in Solytech case)
Right "Column" AOpen/FSP 200W SFX, In Win IP-S400CQ2-0
Left to Right, Top "Row": Thermaltake XP550NP 430W, In Win IP-P600CQ3-2, Corsair VS450, Macron MPT-4012 (all Recapped)
Bottom "Row": Sirtec/High Power 250W SFX, Delta DSP-280FB, Hipro D3057F3H, Cooler Power GX850, Dell H750P-00.
This excludes the gutless wonders. I have a few which I'll blow up on the tester when I get around to it.Tags: None

by objecttothisI had a desktop form factor mini-server die on me a few weeks ago. Through my initial diagnostics, I was convinced it was the motherboard because when I shorted the Green wire on the ATX connecter, the multimeter gave me all the correct voltages on the various pins of the ATX connector and 5VSTB was also correct. To my surprise the replacement motherboard wouldn't turn on with the case power button either. I threw in another PSU and it turned on right away. This is an 80 Plus EVGA 430W PSU with PN:100-W1-0430. I pulled the cover off and don't see any immediately obvious blown caps or scorch...

It's been a while since I've run into this before, so I could use a little help. The attached image is a close-up of a solid white screen. What I'm seeing is red-green-blue-black-red-green-blue instead of red-green-bue-red-green-blue.
I haven't cracked into the thing yet, but before I do, has anyone encountered anything like this before? If so, what was the solution? T-Con? Ribbon connections? Something else?1 Photo -
by TopcatIt's been a LOOOONG time since I've done one of these.... I've had the case for years, its just been sitting in my office with crap stacked on top of it. It has a Micronics 486 motherboard in it with a DX4-100 CPU.... I was never a 486 enthusiast, I had no intentions of doing a build with it....I only kept it for the case....which someone dropped off for recycling years ago.
Anyway, I recently stumbled upon a Supermicro P6DKF AT motherboard and tested it in 'the oven'. I remember seeing one (or one similar) back in the 90's before eATX was a twinkle in anyone's eyes and wondering...-

by shovenoseAlright folks, today I present my latest "build", consisting of mostly spare parts with a few things off eBay.
Parts List and Pricing
CPU: 3/0GHz 4C/4T Intel Core i5-7400. Nothing exciting here, got it off eBay for $80.
RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair DDR4-2400. Had it floating around. Free.
Motherboard: Gigabyte B250M-Gaming 3. Because I had it floating around and the model number contains gaming so it must be better, right? Free.
Storage: 240GB WD Easystore SSD. As far as I know, it's just the Best Buy rebadge of...-
