Hi!
A friend of mine gave me a dead PS5 to look at. I am totally inexperienced, but when a damage is simple (i.e. failed DAP41 on PS4s, etc.), when replacing just the IC and the other very common failing parts of these consoles, problem is fixed. So I checked the voltage of the PSU - none was present. Model is ADP 400DR. I have a bunch of spare parts around, so first thing I did was to replace the IC DAP 053 (they seem quite expensive, so I put a replacement unit - TEA2016AAT. When plugged to the power outlet, 12V did come present.
So I reassembled the PS5 and pressed the power button... to see that it was still dead. I reopened the PSU again and found out that the 12V output was gone again and the ic TEA2016AAT was fried (it was getting hot). After watching some youtube clips for potential solution, I tried changing couple of FET's (Q31, Q34) and so on.. but what bothers me is that the cap labelled C31 always has BOTH pads shorted to ground... I took out so many parts out trying to find the reason for that short, but just can't find it. The diodes read fine, resistors look good (I have a list to look at), no other caps are shorted... If somebody has had similar experience, I will be very happy if you help me with some clues. I attach a pic with red circle of the common ground, that cap pads, the ground of the is DAP053 and also a Gate of mosfet 10N60M2 that goes to ground...
Thanks!!
