    cisco poe switch PSU issue

    Hello everyone.
I'm troubleshooting a cisco switch, which seems to have an issue with the PSU.
The psu has the following power rails - +12v, -53.5V and +3.3V
When connected to power, the +12 and -53.5 seem to work fine, but the +3.3 starts at ~3v and then goes down to ~0 (I guess this is the cap discharging). This happens both when the cable is connected and not to the switch board.
Any ideas what might be causing this behavior?

So I started taking apart the psu, the caps measured ~290uF for the 330uF, ~410uF for the 470 and 45 for the 47, which I think is OKish.. at least for now.
Traced the 3.3V rail to the 33063 regulator. It gets 12v on Vcc (between pin4 and pin6), so I guess it has failed.

Well, I changed the IC and still have the same issue - on power on it outputs ~3v and immediately shuts down. On power off I see another surge of ~3v, so I guess something else in that circuit is wrong.

33063 is a buck convertor - it needs an inductor and a fast diode followed by a low esr cap.
check the example and then check your board.

Sounds to me like a feedback or protection like OVP problem.

What is resistance on 3.3v rail? If he managed to hold 3.0v it is relative high... after you disconect psu from mainboard, check all diodes and major transistors, you may want to inject some current into 3v3 rail to see where is problem.

Also, advice to clean pcb, check and resolder all THT pads, especialy over main transformer and power semiconductors, looks crack or cold joined.

              Micro Momentary Push Switch?
              by Natob82
Great to be here! I'm a newbie here trying to find a "micro", momentary push switch to repair a Sony "clamshell" video walkman. This micro switch has long since discontinued by Sony, however I hope there are third-party switches of the same size and functionality that I might be able to source to play the same role. The purpose of this switch is to tell the video walkman that the user has activated the mechanical tape eject button, turning that physical action into an electronic signal that tells the tape transport mechanism to open so one can load or eject a video tape. I...

NEC TurboExpress On/Off Power Switch Replacement Help
              by grimacelord
              Hello,

I've been working on a NEC TurboExpress and I accidentally got the plastic inside the power ON/OFF switch too hot while doing other repairs and melted it. At first, it would still power on when sliding the switch, but you had to really press inward while sliding to get it to work.

I removed the switch component and tried to gently melt the plastic back so it would work more reliably and all I managed to do was make it worse.

I need to find a replacement On/OFF switch for this, but having some trouble figuring out which kind of switch I need....

Help making a switch work the opposite way with a relay
              by SluggerB
I have a very small float switch, I'm using in a very small tank. It only fits in one way. Link https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Switch.../dp/B07DZ1J2GB

I want the switch to be open when the water is high, and closed when the water is low. Unfortunately it works the opposite. And since this switch is designed to be underwater, it's all sealed up, there is no taking it apart or hacking it up.

It will be driving a water pump, basic idea, when the water is low, switch closes, which turns on water pump, when enough water is in the tank, float switch floats,...

              Cisco catalyst 2960c POE
              by madan1
              Hello everyone.

Got a catalyst 2960 from the usual scrapyard - ebay.
It is stuck in bootloop and the power supply is missing the 3.3v rail. (+12V, -53V, +3.3V)
Some green moisture crystallization on mainboard, which cleared very well with IPA and visually there is nothing rusted or gone.
Still working on the PSU to get the 3.3v rail back (waiting for parts), but for now I'm using an external buck converter board hooked up to the 12V rail ( by the way, the switch seems to be working with only 12V ).

The switch fails to boot due to the following POST error:...
