Hi all,
I saw in the forums a fix for the common Alesis Mk2 power supply capacitor issue, and I was hoping I might be able to get some help on a different power supply issue.
I was recently given a pair of Alesis M1 Mk2's. Only problem is the written input on the back panel is 120v and we run 240v here. I've got a transformer but I don't want to use it, especially since it doesnt have a ground input.
Looking at the power supply, I noticed that there is a jumper (J4) next to the power switch jumper that reads "120/240".
Tracking down some schematics from the bad capacitor problem with these speakers, it says on page 14 to leave J4 open for 240v operation.
So my questions is, is that it? Is that all that's needed? (and if so why didnt they just make a switch at the back so you could run it on both) My electronics knowledge is fairly basic and it looks like closing J4 makes a potential divider which makes sense, but beyond that I don't trust myself not to blow up something important.
Does anyone else have a 240v version of Alesis Mk2's and know if their J4 is open? Or anyone else tried converting 120v to 240? Or know by looking at the schamatic that everything will be alright?
This is the link to the pdf of the schematic:

Cheers for any help.
