I usually have tons of burned up PSU's,but lately,my wife has been bitching about the corpeses laying around the house,so I only have about 3 this week,but there is plenty more where that came from!
This dead trooper resided in Deltona,FL. Home of lighting strikes,brown outs,and surging.It's home was in a Antec SuperLan Boy,the replacement for the stock 350 Smartpower Blue that it had come with 2 years ago.MSI (tHERE'S ANOTHER ONE!)865-PE-NEO Platinum,eVGA 5700U,3.0 C Northwood,512mb CVR PC3200,80gb WD,2X120mm,DVD-ROM,DVD burner,on his "Bad ass gameing rig"As he put it It made a nice silent exit Here's some pics(note the replaced fan and excellent rails

Powmax supplies are notorious for working fine until you give them something they're not expecting. IE- anything other than 120v input current.

Even an Antec would be better than a Powmax.

CAD4466HK, do you know the reason why that guy replaced an Antec with a Powmax?

Maybe because the fuhjyyus has taken it first...

BTW those resistors on the secondary side are doomed. They will always get hot and shorten the life of capacitor near them. This is often the cause why crap capacitors in a crap psu are getting crappy faster.

A way to prevent this is to replace the resistors with higher wattage ones. 5W should be a minimum wattage type of resistor in this situation (P = V²/R).

For one,he didnt replace the Antec,A shop called Bad Boys computers did,and did not even give the poor sap the warranty papers!The kid knows no better I really cant stand some of these so called "repair shops"!
