Hi,
I'm completely newbie to this. The only related things I've done were changing
ROM chip in a graphic card and playing with multipliers in the MDD CPU daughter
card by following tutorials. I don't know any electronics behind it. So please bare with me.
Symptoms
Date & Time settings loss
The problem started about a year or two ago with losing date & time settings when
turning on. PMU resetting and new PRAM battery didn't help. The date would go back
to 1970 even though the power cord is plugged into the wall socket all the time.
Which is odd. Since normally the Mac would remember the time even being without
PRAM battery if the power cord is still connected to a power source. The time will be
carried on between restarts though.
The only occasion the time will be carried on between shutting-downs is when I turn
it off by pressing the power button for 5 secs.
Power light
The light will briefly come on before completely fading away. Then it will come back on
again. Unlike the power light of a ”healthy” MDD which will fade/blink a little while
starting up.
The only time the light acts like normal is when it is shut down by the 5 secs power
button pressing before turning on.
Cold start problem
This issue developed just a few months ago. The Mac won't turn on if the power cord
receives no power for too long, such as by turning off UPS it's connected to overnight.
The power light will just flash for a moment, and it would turn itself off. Now I have to
have the UPS switched on for 10-20 mins before powering on the Mac.
I suspect it's the power supply (API1PC36 REV-A 360W). As the C60 is bulging.
With the list of caps from severach and buz (I can't pull them off now as the Mac is still
being in use).

I'm considering replacing them.

Digikey have everything but the shipping to Thailand starts at 40 USD.
Mouser is also 40 USD minimum. Element 14 (Farnell) is lower (23 USD)
but lacks many caps I need.
I would like to order from badcaps. But from what I read, using caps with too low ESR
can cause stability problem in power supply. Very absurd, I can't use caps with friendly
shipping cost because it's too high grade.
But perhaps there may be some caps in some sections of the PSU that can be replaced
with very low ESR stuffs without problem? And that may leave me with just a few that
I can get from other sources. Please point them to me.
Here is the original plan with caps mainly from badcaps and a few other sources.
